What are the most sensitive rods in your opinion, in the following price ranges, based on personal use

For under $100 you can't go wrong with an Abu Garcia Vendetta. The Abu Garcia Veritas can usually be found under $100 too depending on where you look. Both are very sensitive in my experience, and are probably the best bang for the buck rods out.

At right around $100, the Veritas wins hands down. I bought one just to see what the fuss was about and they really are very nice rods for the price. Might even go back and buy some more!

In any given price range the best performing rod will be one built on a blank with a high stiffness to weight ratio, a comfortable reel seat and the smallest lightest guides that will hold up and pass necessary connections. Opinions of one brand over another will be just that - opinions. Even as a rod builder I couldn't give a "best" recomendation, only some good ones. At the end of the day your best bet is to visit a shop with your reel in hand and see how each feels and form your own opinion.

I do that but I cant tell how it will work when fishing. They should install lakes in store so we can test them in a real world environment

Idk about the "most" sensitive in any price range, for the simple reason I haven't fished them all.

What I DO believe is that if it is made by Powell or Shimano, chances are you'll get a very good bang (sensitivity included) for your buck..

From my own standpoint I think I feel just about everything thru braided line. When using a stretch line I feel the line getting taut, and I have seen very few rocks that swim away, so line watching works too. I do not put as much emphasis on a sensitive rod as some do. All I need from my rod and reel combo is it to be comfortable, I'll take care of the rest.

Every time I go to BPS I pick up rods for feel. I have a previous gen Compre, and the new ones are pretty nice. It is hard to argue with Shimano's over the counter warranty, FWIW.

I like the feel of the Abu Veritas rods mentioned above. Don't own one, but always pick one up...

A buddy of mine has a 6'6" M BPS Carbonlite spinning rod and loved it - until he bought a St. Croix 6'6" ML Premier rod on clearance at BPS this past year. Says the difference between the rods is big, in favor of the Croix, which he bought for well under $100, normally right around +/- the $100 mark.

Beyond that I don't have much experience with big priced rods other than hands-on at BPS, etc. I'd agree the Shimano Cumara, and even Crucial are great rods, and just about any St. Croix from Avid on up are hard to beat. I do like some of the Loomis rods I've picked up in-store, too.

Since local retailers don't carry some of the models mentioned above, I can't comment on them.
