If, after reading and watching what is contained in those links, you still have more specific questions, head over to the appropriate section of the forum and 1) see if someone has posted about it before or 2) make a thread asking a more specific question.

Getting into bass fishing isn't all that different from regular fishing, IMO. It's when you fish strictly for bass and make bass fishing a hobby that it becomes more intensive.

start with basic lures that will catch lots of fish and big ones...in my opinion that lure is a plastic worm of your choice

Good Luck!

Didn't you also post this in the Northeast sub-forum? At any rate, I replied there.

You're in the right spot. Welcome.

Welcome. My advice is to learn as much as you can about the fish you're targeting and pick the lures and presentations that suit it's needs at the time you're after them. Sounds basic, but too many guys get info about specific lures and techniques and use them in the wrong situation. That just leads to frustration and loss of interest.

You need to 'learn to float before you can swim' and this sport is no different.

welcome. im new to fishing also but i'd say start out with plastic worms. fish them texas rigged around cover (weeds, stumps, sunken logs etc). good luck!

1. Read alot

2. Youtube alot

3. Fish Alot

I would go to your tackle shop of choice and grab a couple of everything and figure out what you and the fish in your area like.

In this I would include, 5" Senkos I prefer to whacky rig them, A topwater Frog I prefer KVD Sexy Frog but ive seen good result from the Spro frogs as well. A few 1.5"-2.5" crankbaits, I like sexy shad color square bill. Get a couple for different depths. and finally some white/.charutese Spinners.

I think if you first learn about the bass themselves, like where they live and what they eat, choosing lures will be far easier. Secondly, I would recommend learning somewhat of a finesse technique first because, IMO, it should be much easier for a person who starts off with finesse to power fish than the other way around. I personally have a lot of trouble with finesse because it seems boring. Productive, but boring. I haven't yet learned the patience necessary to fish slow lol. So do yourself a favor and start with soft plastics and learn those rigs. Then, when you are ready, crankbaits and such will be fun and you'll be twice as effective.

This is just my humble opinion, so take it with a grain of salt.

Like hooah said, learn about the bass themselves...feeding patterns, weather changes/effects, etc. and this will help you know what and how to present the bass with a tasty meal :)

I would start with versatile baits such as senkos and jigs. I like to throw senkos either t-rigged (weightless or wacky) and on a weighted wacky jig head in deeper water. Also, I recommend NorthStar Custom Baits Black Series jigs in 3/8 oz for all around fishing - they are going to be killer here in the fall!
