A Good Combination?

Featured Replies

Do you guys think a soft body frog on a buzz bait with the skirt off would be any good? It would keep it going straight I would think. Has anyone tried it? If so did you have any luck?

Ive done just that and it has worked really well at times

Because I have a strike king buzz bait that I got for $1 at walmart so I figured why not try it. Do the legs from the frog get tangled on anything? Also if you see something jump at it do you wait to set the hook like a regular frog or do you just set the hook right when it hits it?

The added weight of the soft plastic frog will sink your buzz bait faster, so you will have to reel faster to compensate. You can always add a trailer hook to assist with hookups.

Something else that works well on a buzzbaits is a big paddle tail or LF magic shad swimbait.

soft plastic frogs work better as a swimbait trailer than on a buzzbait.

One outing i was having trouble catching fish. I was just messing around and attached a frog on a buzzbait. Nothing. Then i attached a 4 inch swimbait to the buzzbait it caught fish. I dont do much buzzbaiting anymore, but ill try that swimbait/buzzbait combo every once in awhile.

Why not use a four inch twin tail grub,,,less weight and still a bunch of action,,
