Booyah Padcrasher (Frog)

Featured Replies

I ordered a few crashers from TW and used them for the first time yesterday. Ive never been the best at walking the dog with a frog but these are suppose to be very easy to walk, like a Spook. Not true. They do the same thing my other frogs do. When I pop the rod (yes I pop it on slack line and return it to slack) it mostly just "walks" to one side over and over, instead of walking back and forth...

FYI. I use a MH rod with fast action and braided line.

Should my line be out of the water? Does it matter which way I pop (up,down or side)? Can I have too much slack? Ive tried fast, slow and everything I can think of. Its starting to frustrate me so I figured I better ask the guys on BR and Im sure to get some good advice. THX for any tips!

BTW as the frog gets closer to me it seems to become easier to walk. Im talking like ten ft away. Thats why I was wondering if it had something to do with my line being all the way out of the water, but I doubt it...

Thx. Seen it. Still cant figure out why it only walks to one side....guess I just need more practice.

I have a padcrasher, and it is kind of hard to walk. For me the farther out it is the easier it is to walk. The Spro Popping Frog is extremely easy to walk. It is even easier to walk than the regular bronzeye.

I walk a frog best when I pop from side to side.

Also, angle your rod toward the water when you walk it. I turn to my right, point the rod toward the frog and snap the rod back toward me. I keep enough slack in the line so that at the end of the pop I can barely feel my frog. If you have too much slack, only the line will move. If you don't have enough slack, you will make the frog bob instead of walk.

If you still can not walk the frog don't worry about it. Just bob the frog instead. I doubt it makes a whole lot of difference to the fish.

padcrashers good cheap frogs, my least fav to walk, I can but these take a bit more effort, lol Iobee all the way.

i have seen times it makes a differance in way you do frog.. in a few places i fish, it is like night and day, after a few casts with walking, i switch it to bobbing.

I actually started out with an H2O express frog and then moved to the pad crashers. I have the exact same problem, popping it one direction consistently.

I recently picked up a live target field mouse and suddenly I could walk one like it was nothing. I'm quickly becoming a fan of that little guy.

Thx Jay I may have to get one of those too. lol. Darn tackle monkey!

Both of these that I owned had the weight fall out of them the first hour I used them. I took the hooks out and threw the rest away.

Frogs are hard to walk. I have more luck being subtle with them. If you want to walk, get a Spook.

Not being a smartass, practice makes perfect. Walking gets easy after time

I throw the pad crasher a lot and like it. Ive been walking frogs a while and these frogs are very easy to work. The plug on a few of mine has come out but they are cheap and nice to use. Dicks has regular sales of 2 for 8$ for them. Agree with buzz frogg on the above post. Walking anything gets very easy over timee.
