Flipping baits

Featured Replies

What kind hooks do you guys use for flipping soft plastic baits?

Depends on the cover and the bait.

Most commonly:

Owner Wide Gap Plus (3-5/0)

Owner Offset Worm Hook (1-5/0)

Owner SSW Bent Eye (4-6/0)

Mustad's Denny Brauer Straight Shank Flipping Hook  :)

Gamakatsu 2/0-4/0 EWG worm hook and Owner Z-neck offset 3/0-4/0

I use a bunch of different hooks from 3-5 size. I've also been adding a heat shrink tubing bait keeper to all of them.  Once I figured out the exact way to shape them and exactly where on the hook to put them, they REALLY work well.  A pack of heat shrink tubing at the hobby store or Radio Shack will do MANY MANY hooks :)

I like to flip big 10" or longer worms and I use the Owner Oversize worm hook in 7/0 for 10-12" worms and 11/0 for anything longer.  They are super beefy and razor sharp out of the package.

I like to use the Owner Twist-locks and the Gammy G-lock hooks.

I will be using the new ragetail rooster this year.
