Zoom Brush Hogs

Featured Replies

What kind of retrieve should i use when fishing a Brush Hog with a weight on? Twitch? or swim it weightless?

Fish it anyway you fish a plastic worm. I like to pitch a baby brush hog on a 1/4oz weight and 4/0 hook to visible cover and docks and just hop it back slowly. They're a great C-rig bait too.

I like then as trailers on smaller jigs but they are heavy enough, I throw a 3/16 oz weight T-rigged and it works great.

+1 never used it on a C-rig but throwing it at or in cover is my most successful presentation when I used the Zoom Brush Hog(I use the DC Stump Thumper from Deep Creek Lures now)

Outstanding bait. Everyone needs to know how to fish the brush hog.

Flip it; pitch it; Texas rig it; Carolina rig it; use it as a spinnerbait trailer; use it as a Chatterbait trailer; use it on a shaky head; use it on a drop shot; fish it sideways with the hook in it's side. Get the drift????

I suggest flipping and pitchng the brush hog into structure and wood and grass and pads, and open water, etc. with a 1/8 ounce pegged bullet weight or fish it totally weightless.

Try a number of ways to present the bait and then decide which one works best under what conditions and thrown where.

i texas rig them with a small bullet weight and use a lift and drop retrieve. has been a go to bait for on light line with a 1/8oz weight over grass beds

I usually Texas rig with. 3/16 weight and drag it along the bottom. I also pitch into anything that I can find.

You might try a split shot rig or even weightless.

IMHO, I'ts the best darn soft plastic there is...

It's heavy enough to fish with no weight

You can modify it if you want.

Use as a trailer...

Sam said it exactly right

That pretty much sums it up.

Very, very versatile. Generally I use it near cover or outside weedlines, with a 1/4 ounce weight pegged to it and a 1/0 EWG for the baby size. A lift fall retrieve is great, and jiggle it on the bottom when it hits for a few seconds.

X2 I also use it as a jig trailor when I want a little larger profile.

i've had alot of success fishing the baby brush hog on a shakey head & hopping it in cover.

C-RIGGED best for me...T-RIG 2nd
