don't use gloves to lip bass. That's just silly.

Man wear that bass thumb with pride. I love it when my thumb gets all scratched up, means I had a good day. But if it really bothers you, get a bogo grip. Or if you want a really cheap method I guess you could just put a strip of Duct tape on your thumb.

Sissy.

Spend the money on something else.

I get the torn up thumb deal occasionally, especially post spawn, and use a product similar to this. It's better than using duct tape like several Elite Pros were doing the past few years while fishing Falcon Lake and Armistad Lake. Fishing several consecutive days with many bass caught each day can be painful.

Smokin....no shame in wearing a glove.  On the lake I guide on in North Carolina, I lip so many fish that I have had days where I'm bleeding freely the whole time.  I got sick of it and wear golf gloves.  I wear it on my left hand and so far, one pair that I paid $12 for has probably held up to me lipping over 400-500 fish.

Just go to the golf store and ask them what the most durable glove they have is.  Usually the durable ones are cheaper.

Some days I wish I had a glove. I have gotten two infections from "bass thumb" and a destroyed palm. They are worth it sometimes. Especially if you deal with smallies and spots a lot.

you guys are sissies! ;D

There are days when I would pay to have bass thumb! ;D

No joke, we were fishing a night T a few yers back and an older guy got a spine in his hand when trying to grab a fish out of the well. Long story short he had some sort of reaction, hand blew up like a balloon and his buddy had to bring him to the hospital. If they save hospital visits, I'm all for them.

When my hand gets like this, I wear the thumb protector the next few days or I just don't fish for a few days and let it heal up some.

The only time I won't call you a weenie for wearing a glove to lip bass is if the glove is for sun protection.  Try surgical latex gloves and cut thumb off and just wear the thumb portion.
