How Many Lakes/ponds/rivers Do You Fish?

Recommended Posts

i myself fish 2-3 on a consistent basis 3-4 times a week. i like fishing the same lakes/ponds so i can figure out a pattern and learn the lake/pond rather then jumping from lake to lake each time out.

Yes, I agree with what your saying but i love to explore new places.. Sometimes doing that you get skunked but sometimes you come out with some monsters, but I always go back to spots I've fished before annd make adjustments/continue doing what needs to be done to catch fish.

I have fished in 24 different lakes at least twice each this year. Most of which I fish every year depending on season and the current weather. Several have been new additions this year because I joined a club that fishes lakes I don't normally fish. The forced learning curve keeps the edge sharp.

I am in the 8-10 range on a regular basis with a few other spots I hit occasionally. I like to have my "home" lake where I know the fish and can try new techniques but I also like the challenge of a completely new piece of water to try.

Pretty much anything within a reasonable distance. I usually like to have diverse fishing opportunities, so I try to find lakes that present different challenges. Have a riverine lake I like to fish, a deep rocky lake, and several old 50 acre nieghborhood ponds with some lunkers in them.

That is the way I think too!

This year only twice (13hrs total) have I went to lakes other than my "home" lake. There are 6 lakes close but just go to the closest.

I fish two lakes on a consistant basis, one of which I'm on an average of three times a week. I haven't fished a river in a few years, but I do visit four other lakes throughout the course of a season.

BTW, the lessons I've learned on my 'home' lake have made fishing new water much more exciting. I'm much more adept at developing a game plan and at recognizing a developing pattern.

I try to fish two new bodies of water a year. This year it was three and although I was skunked on one of them, I was able to locate active fish and develop a definate pattern on the other two.

It's great to know a body of water like the back of your hand, but applying that knowledge in other theaters is when you can confidently call yourself and angler and not just a fisherman. ;)

Most of my bass fishing is done on smaller ponds. I have 3 within 10-15 minutes of my house that I hit regularly and another dozen or so a little further away that I go to several times per year. Most of the bigger lakes/reservoirs around here are geared towards trout and walleye fishing so when I hit those it's usually when I feel like taking a break from the bass and chase those species for a change of pace.

Most of my fishing is done in the mornings before work so I just go to the lake closest to my house. However, when I get off there are 3 or 4 others fairly close by that I like to go to.

Just thinking back over the year I've fished between 25-30 different bodies of water so far this year not counting ponds.

I haven't fished as many this year as in the past. Probably around 8 to 12 lakes and ponds.
