I found these detailed lil guys a while ago and typically fish them as a tube for smallies in Rivers with success. I just cuz the tail end off right at the start is the flipper today to rig it on a bootlegger jig w a rattle the rattle sits inside the craw body as it is hollow and the hook comes out the top o the plastic just before the end o the head. Has anyone erver fished these as a trailer or in the way I described and how does it work. Details I any on the crawbug

not sure i can picture what you are talking about. i normally fish them on a normal tube head (between 1/8th and 1/4). I normally color the claws to match the crayfish by my house

What do u color them with

jjs majic or spike it work to color the tips of the claws. generally chart. color. Those little crawbugs are small mouth killers...if you can find them. I have a hard time finding them in stores. I much prefer the older yum crawbug green pumpkin color over the new one. I believe (not 100%) the new one is more of a watermelon/green pumpkin. the older one was more along the lines of rage craws green pumpkin. Big bite baits makes a craw that is basically identical to the larger version of the Yum crawbug but with an extra few inches on the top of the bait that can just be cut off. I use to fish these on tube jigs for the smaller ones but have found that the larger ones produce better in my area. I've found these produce better in rocks than anything else so losing tube jigs got old quick. I thread the line through the tail and use a 1/8 oz weight(usually tungsten due to the smaller profile) and then snell knot a 1/0 EWG hook to the end. Pull the craw back over the weight and hook and just t-rig the hook through the very tip of the nose and you hardly get hung up in rocks. Hooks ups are really easy. With the larger ones you can add rattles in them too with the rig I just described if needed.

I've seen that rigging option I can't quite figure out how to do it yet tho. I like it on a yum pumpkin Ed jig 4/0. And puttin the body over a built on rattle on a jig w a skirt. The ones w the plastic rattles that sit under the hook shank

I have done something similar in the past. Ive used 1/8th ounce round jig-heads with round bend hook and shoved the weighted head down into the body of the craw. When it gets down to the very bottom of the craw (tail) I push the line tie out of the back. This works good because the hook fits well into the body of the bait and you can texas style hook the head. I use it for slower presentations it will occasionally roll and spin if you try to burn it in though, I stick to speed style craws for fast retrieve craw presentation.
