Legend Tournament Spinning

Featured Replies

I am looking for a new spinning rod primarily for shaky heads. I will occasionally throw a senko on this rod as well. I am pretty sure I am going to go with the Legend Tournament Bass series from St. Croix. I was wondering if you guys could help me to chose what length and action I should get.

6'8" M/XF. It's pretty much the "do-all" rod in St Croix's line up. I have a few Legend Tournaments, but not in that perticular rod, mine is a Mojo, but all my other LTB's are outstanding, I can't help but think that one would not be either.

Talk about a killer Lindy Rig rod.

6'10" MXF... specifically made for shaky heads but would also do well with top water, wacky style, drop shot, and other finesse techniques.

I have that exact rod and it's a great multipurpose rod. It fishes a shakyhead, weightless senko, soft jerkbait, small T-rig, or even a small jig very well. I also have a 6' 10" ML/F, it would be a good choice if you like smaller shakyheads and wacky rigged senkos. I had the 6' 8" M/F and it is a very good all around rod like WW2 said, even used it to throw jerkbaits at brown trout this last winter.

Bluebasser86, what do you mean by lighter shaky heads? I generally use 1/8 oz and up.

Great rod...I have the 6'8" M/XF for weightless to light weight plastic rigs. The 6'10" version would work for your application, too.

Something like a 1/16 shakyhead or an 1/8oz with a small bait like a 4" worm or small craw. If you go much bigger it kills deadens the feel of the bait. If an 1/8oz is a light as you go I'd go with the 6' 8" M/F or 6' 10" M/F.
