i'm glad other people seem to have good BPS experiences like that but not me. my local BPS (manteca) would not honor their online price without a printout of a screenshot, and even so, it was a major hassle requiring a manager to get involved. i also had a BPS rod that was 14 months old when the trigger broke(!): "sorry, there's nothing we can do".

Tempted to pick one of these up, looking for a deep cranking rod to throw BN22's, Manns D20, etc probably useful for big chunky spinnners too. Just surprised they are Fast/XFast though, and no Heavy's. I guess I'd be looking at the 7-6 or 7-10 model...

78Staff I have the 7'6" MH telescopic model and I'm very pleased with it's performance. Even though they list it as Fast action it is not as stiff as the designation implies, it fishes between what you would expect from a MH Graphite worm rod and a fiberglass rod. It has enough backbone to rip it free from most submergent weeds yet has enough give to get the majority of fish to the boat. This is a very good rod for the money.

I'm leaning that way, either the 7-6 or the 7-10 MH. I also looked at W&M Rick Clunn S Glass similar price but see some complaints about weight and QC on the W&M models...

So no issues with the 7-6 for throwing big cranks, 20ft'er and such?

The 7'6" handles deep divers like the DD22's & 6XD's with no problem and it does not feel overworked when throwing these baits.

If throwing smaller shallow cranks like a Baby 1 Minus, 1/2 oz Traps ,1.5 size squarebills etc I prefer to use the 7' Med action rod.

I also use a 3rd Crankin Stick which is a 7' MH model that I have spooled with heavier line, I typically throw large surface cranks like a Deps BuzzJet with this combo or even a small swimbait like Matt's Baby Hard Bluegill.

These rods have great reviews, but I didn't buy them because I don't like the power hump and reel seat. If they got rid of the hump and used ECS reel seats. I would pick up a couple.

Ive use quiet a few different rods,like everyone else. The BPS CRANKIN STICK is a great rod for the money.

I picked up a brand new 7ft.M/L at a flea market for 20.00 this fall. It has been at great rod for throwing my small square bills! Personally i like the powerhump,wish all my rods had it.

Well, someone has to give some negative response here, so I guess I'll chime in. I have two and only the 7ft. Med gets any use and that's with my wake baits and shallow square bills.

The action is great. Just soft enough at the tip section, a good parabolic bend and enough power in the blank, but for me, these rods aren't sensitive enough. I like to be able to tell when my line is over a limb as the crank approaches or to feel the subtle, tight wobble of a flat sided crank, and to know when a fish has taken that bait and is moving toward me. That's not going to happen with this rod which is the reason my M/H is collecting dust.

Seems to me that using unidirectional graphite only addressed the power and action aspect of a good cranking stick.
