Need A New Crankbait/spinnerbait/topwater Line

Featured Replies

I have recently started having issues with my general use line, sensation. I have used this line for 5+ years with excellent results. It is really thin for its marked #rating and is extremely low stretch. Couple of years ago I read an article and at the time it was the lowest stretch mono/copolymer. It is also very strong for its rating. I have pulled up stumps with 12#. But recently and with several different boxes and sizes I have noticed that it seems to be breaking really easy. I get just the slightest nick and bam it breaks. I'm ready to move on and try something else. This will be mostly on cranks/ spinners/topwater. I want something that is low stretch....this is a must. Also would like something fairly abrasion resistance. What have u used that has worked? I know yo-zuri is going to be suggested immediately:) I will put it on the list to try if it fits criteria.

P-Line CXX copolymer,Big Game, Ande Mono possibly...yo zuri was already stated in your OP

Ive used the Big Game mono, which was strong and abrasion resistant as well as yo-zuri, both were good and inexpensive enough to pick up a roll of each

I was going to recommend P-Line CXX - one of my personal faves, but they also have another one that I use frequently, Flouroclear. Been using it now for 3 years. Another one that may not get the praise but is very good is the Bass Pro XPS Extreme flourocarbon. Not a bad line for the price and pretty durable.

Think I'm defiantly going to try the yo-zuri. I have seen the cxx pop up around the Internet a lot. But man it's diameter is huge. Now wonder it's so strong......

I'm prob the only guy on the forum that swears by this but I suggest try Spider Wire EZ or Ultimate mono. I've been running 6# since they came out and love it. Its my go to mono for all freshwater. You can sometimes snag it up at Kmart or Walmart for $6-7 a 220 yard spool. Almost zero stretch, great abrasion resistance and casts a mile. I like the low vis green color for the lakes around here. Also I have never had a bad spool before, I've had bad spools with all of Berkleys stuff over the years, XL XT Big Game etc. Nevr with Spider.

Also would like to say I've tried Yozuris line on a spinning reel and I hated it, very stiff, limited casting distance, tons of memory, polymers knots would break when cinching down, ended up using trilene knot. You could do 200 casts and it will always look like a slinky across the top of the water. Never again. Lol Before I get bashed maybe I had a bad spool but that 1 bad spool was bad enough to turn me away for good.

regular or ultra soft?

Honestly don't know which.

Had it on my CI4 on a 6' M/F St Croix Premier throwing worms and spinners. Was prob the worst fishing trip Ive ever had. Only reason I bought it was because of the rave reviews and I like to try new stuff out all the time. Also I love yozuris SW lures so I'm def not being a brand *****.lol

My favorite copoly's have always been Izorline and Yo zuri until I tried the Gamma poly flex. Really good , handles great and super tough.

Im a YoZuri fan, but not for topwater. I still use good ole Trilene.

Honestly don't know which.

most people use the ultra soft on spinning reels with great results which is geared towards

I agree on the Yozuri Ultrasoft, not the regular stuff. I had it on one of my spinning reels this year and had zero issues. I also had 12# on a Curado 201E and no issues there either. This was my first year using Yozuri and I plan to use it in the future.

X 2 for the Gamma. Everyone has their opinion and their favorite, but give Gamma a try, I think you'll like it. I've tried the Yozuri Ultrasoft on spinning and it's OK but it has some memory and I prefer the Gamma.

Stopped by my buddies shop, it def wasn't ultra soft he doesn't carry it. Just a very plain label that says yozuri hybrid. I can't wait to try out abrasx and invisx ordered both fluoros last week should be here monday.

If it's for spinning gear, I recommend Nanofil. Casts a mile and doesn't tangle when twisted.

Not for spinning and am really not that concerned with management issues either. I use flouro on my worm and jig rods. nothing is as bad as that stuff and I can handle it fine. The gamma looks interesting. How is it in the stretch department vs maybe trilene XT or xl or orignal Stren.

Telling you for a hair away from 0% stretch in a mono - Spider wire EZ mono! Ultimate is pretty much same thing just avail in different sizes, colors, spool sizes, also more expensive.

I believe in Spider so much, DM me ur address, mail me your spool and I'll fill it and send it back. If you dont like it reverse it to a empty spool and send it back. Cost will be less than a buck for shipping.

I meant ill DM u my address

Hey thanks for the offer! That's really awesome of u. But rather than go through all that I will just go pickup a spool. It's cheap and if I don't like it I will just use it for backer.

Lol anytime, your welcome! I believe you'll like it.
