Hi everyone, I wanted to know if anyone did anything to their hard/soft baits after they were used? How do you prevent rust? Also, how do you store scented soft plastic baits? Is a hard plastic plano box good?

Also, what are worm binders and how do you use them?

I would recommend storing your soft plastics in their original bags.....the ones they are sold in. Most of them come in re-sealable packages. I have done this for years and my plastics are fine and keep their scents. Worm binders are just that....a binder that seals with a zipper that has multiple re-sealable bags to store plastics. I have never used one but am thinking of getting one for next season. As far as rust I've never had a huge issue. I use BPS plastic storage trays....I guess just try to air out your lures before you store....if you fish saltwater....rinse your tackle with fresh water before you store.

I allow my hard baits (especially spinnerbaits) to sit out for a little bit on the deck of my boat for a little while before a put them away to keep them from rusting. I place them in plastic storage trays based on manufacturer, and for crankbaits, depth and manufacturer. For soft plastics I place mine in plastic bags based on color especially for ones I have a lot of. Then I sort them by type like crawls, jerkbaits esc. That seems to keep them fresh and in order.

VinnieT, worm binders are like a "photo sleeves" except for worms. You can get them at Bass Pro Shops online or Tackle warehouse. It's like having a bunch of clear soft plastic bags in like say a notebook.

Go to your local pharmacy and ask them to save you the desicant packs that come in large bottles of pills. Throw those in your boxes and theyll prevent rust.

I like to use the plano guide series boxes for my more expensive lures & tackle. They're waterproof & as long as I keep the water out my lures stay rust free. They come in a few different sizes too.

My soft baits stay in the original package, and my hard baits are all in plano boxes which come inside after every fishing trip so theres no rust problems...

I keep my soft plastics in the original bags, and after changing hard baits I'll pat them dry on my pants before putting them back.

My soft plastics stay in their original packages. I keep hook bonnets on my cranks, so I usually let them sit out for a few minutes after I am finished with them so they can dry out.

If you are having porblems with your hard baits rusting. Just drill a few holes in the box on all sides. It will help air flow and keep your hooks from getting rusty.
