Swim jigs

Featured Replies

I saw another topic about a particular swim jig and wondered what other kinds there are. I have never fished them before and I was wondering what kind of rod, line, retrieve, weight, etc is recommended. I just ordered a few Critterbaits Swim Jigs, has anyone had experience with these?

I started making my own last year because I couldn't find any swimming jigs. Most of the time I use a 1/4oz bait w/ single tail grub, MH rod, 10-15lb line. Those jigs look alright but EWG jig hooks do not work very well for me. Do you have a link to their website so I can see the other colors?

I thought the EWG hook would be a good feature because you could texas rig a plastic on there and not have to worry about the weedguard.

Here's a link to their website, there is a link on this page to see all the color options.

I ordered 3 jigs, 1 Green Pumpkin/Brown Barbed Wire, 1 PB&J, and 1 Green Black and Chartreuse

i use the BPS skirted double tail grubs on a 1/4 or 3/8 leadhead and absolutely love em, i use 10-12lb test but in the lakes i fish the biggest ones i catch are around 7lbs with not much cover to need 50lb braid to winch them through

The only swimming jig I use is the one from Booyah.  The triangle shaped head swims easily and they come through grass very well.

As for tackle, I use a 7' MH rod and 15 lb. line.

ive used the booyah swim jigs but unless im swimming them in very heavy vegetation i kinda like just a ball head skirted jig with a single tailed grub.  if im fishing it right on the surface then ill go to something like th booyah triangle head, but usually im swimming them subsurface and pumping my rod some to give it action.
