I will be swinging for the fences tomorrow and was wondering what kind of attractants work the best with soft swimbaits? Anyone had any luck with a certain scent or brand?

The only time I have used scent on paddletails is Chompers garlic, and that was to get rid of the strong plastic smell.

When in doubt, Megastrike is the real deal.

Yeah, mine seem to have that same plastic smell as well. I've got several attractants to choose from and garlic sounded pretty good to me too.

I use Megastrike on all of my soft swimbaits. I like that it does add a scent, and it also lubes the bait so it's easier for the bass to inhale it, plus it softens the bait to a certian extent, which gives them a little better action.

Didn't I read somewhere that bass can't resist the aroma of WD-40 and plastic. ;D :

I've heard they will even hit baits soaked in gas as well. The most expensive attractant these days, haha! I slit the bait up the middle for a good hook set so I may just load it up with Megastrike. I'm looking to get my first swimbait bite tomorrow, hopefully it'll happen for me. 

Jason, I assume you were kidding about slitting a swimbait  to fill it with attractent...right..?

I've got some money minnows/shadalicious baits i'm planning on using. There's an area underneath for the hook that you can open up. I'm hoping to get some more expensive swimbaits soon. (that I wouldn't take a razor blade to, haha)

Try throwing a 3.5 oz swimbait for 5 hrs...

Ugh, I can just see a bag of ice and some Ibuprofen on the way if I did that. My biggest rod only throws up to 1.5 oz or so haha!

There's a technique to thowing havier baits so you don't get sore, or to tired..

The primary purpose for putting sent (lube) on a swimbait is... it lubes the bait. When a big fish gets a bait in its crushers you can swing for the fences and actually move the fish without getting a good hook up. I use megastrike myself but any lube with the consistency of vasoline will work.

I like Pro Cure myself. For shad swimbaits I use shad flavor, for trout swimbaits I use the trout flavor. I squirt some in the bottom of a Ziplock gallon size freezer bag and place the swimbait in the bag as needed.

MegaStrike is the ONLY scent I use anymore.

Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it. I used mostly Megastrike today but had no luck. Cold, muddy water. I don't think it's ever going to clear up down here. Hopefully we'll get to sticking them soon.

i'll second that about the Pro Cure , i use the super gel in trout , it is actually made from ground up trout . it is a superb lube that stays on pretty good , in my opinion , the best stuff made in the scent / lube / fish attractant .....
