A Jay I thought they couldnt use side scan or down imaging or all that other things that are normal on other tournament. I think they only have contour maps and gps.

  • I really like the format and the coverage.    I like the way the anglers discuss what they are doing and why.   This kind of coverage is everything the Classic should be but is Not.   A-Jay

  • Ok - I just finished watching this latest Extended Cast broadcast.  I  did enjoy it.    But now that all the competitors have fished and the first round of eliminations to chop down the field of 24

  • I know -   This is the second time it has been mentioned  here - And it was pretty Bogus man. . . . .   In the interest of good taste, in the future I'd like to suggest that this be referred to as

I didn't read that -

The only mention of electronics I found was this :

"GPS STORED WAYPOINTS: No pre-determined, user-generated GPS waypoints will be allowed. Waypoints may only be marked during competition hours."

and this ~

"GRAPHING: Graphing between periods in order to locate fish is not allowed."

I've had enough of the dock fishing dink fest.

Yeah, over six hours of watching guys hammer docks is enough. I'm enjoying it, don't get me wrong, but seeing something different for the next round would be welcome.

Do they repeat zones? Or once they fish them that zone is done?

I believe they knock a zone out every time its fished. I don't remember any of them fishing the same zone twice last season.

That's good to hear, because Zone 2, 3, and 4 have some of my favorite places to fish on that lake.  Better Smallmouth habitat in those zones, but with the turnover and pea green water, I don't think many will venture out to find these spots and will just stick with the predictable dock pattern.

It may be a huge gamble, but I think it would almost guarantee advancing of you could waste the whole 1st period to idle out deep and find a couple of schools to hammer in the later periods.  That being said the next challenge format is a race to a weight so my idea is null and void.  Either way I think the winner will find fish off shore, because 1 4lb smallmouth 4 1lb largemouth.

Some of you may have been bored watching all the dock fishing, but on that lake if you want fish quick, docks are the way to go.  I've spent a fair amount of hours on that water, and I'm sad to say that I'll probably never see it again.  You can catch smallies all over, but I always found that the south end of the lake (below the bridge) was better for them .  There's a rockpile in what would be zone 6 that has always given up some big smallies, and there's a couple of points at the mouth of the coves that produce well.  It's a beautiful body of water with lots of grass and tons of docks.

I've had enough of the dock fishing dink fest.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing.  I'm recording it and watching it later, If they're fishing docks again next episode I'll probably be doing a lot of fast forwarding.  I'm hoping in the future they fish lakes where guys are using a lot of different techniques.  Like they did last year.

 I hear that -

I am willing to be patient here - this whole deal is still fairly new, especially when compared to how long the standard tournament format has been used.  So I think they'll massage it a little with each season.

The thing is..........around here, in that heavy alge bloom, fishing offshore for LMB (In my expierance) is often a big waste of time. That dirty green water pulls LMB to the bank, and the warmer the water gets the shallower they go. They also spread out alot more in that green crap, so covering water is key. If the water was clear and they were able to find fish off the bank, a guy could bust a 20lb sack in five casts in one spot. But when they head to the bank, it's not uncommen to find the bigger ones spread out a lot more. In this format, it makes more sense to me to fish for numbers than size, and hope along the way you put it infront of a big one. And also, typicaly, the time of the year they were fishing around here tends to be a little slow. Late Aug-late Sept, lakes that cough up 20+ lb bags just to cash, taper off to where flirting with a 20 lb bag is good for the win, and anything in the mid-teens will often cash. Once the bloom begins to clear off, and water temps start taking noticable drops it gets good again.

Am I ever wrong??? LOL..................well I guess that depends on who you ask. Just don't ask my wife.

Yikes..........some one from Leroy, I better start keeping my trap shut LOL.

Just more docks today, guess the bloom is destined to make this a dock dink fest.  Still a lot of fun to watch though, so glad we don't have to listen to Aaron whine anymore.

You aren't kidding, he was in major whine mode.  That lake was just not suited for his style of fishing.

Actually the lake sets up great for him.  The bloom is what killed him.  It took guts to even give the bridge pilings a shot, was honestly surprised he didn't drop shot up a few keepers there.  Will have to wait for the extended coverage late tomorrow to see how it really went, but him getting last and not even being on tv the whole episode was great.  He must cry a lot in the extended coverage. lol

I should have said that the lake in it's currentr condition at the time of the tourney was not set up for him.  I was a little surprised he did not pull a couple off that bridge also.

Dang, Ike's out, now who am I going to root against?

Poor Ike, looked like he might have had a cold or the flu.

He also made the mistake of cutting in front of Denny Brauer.  Denny is a nice guy unless you get too close to him.

Love Denny just dropping F bombs all over the place.  Every episode he has been on at least one has been bleeped.  EPIC!

Wow how far behind am I? I have been recording it the the 3rd elimination round is recording right now. I'm watching the first elimination round and let me just say, aaron martins in quite the pessimist. He got himself down and he was eliminated because of that.

Kills me how rough Pros are on their gear, Brauer was breaking rods, and stomping all over them. Must be nice to get that stuff for free.

X2. Actually makes me pretty mad because with my budget, my 2 combos cost about $100 together. (Spinning and baitcast)
