I buy mine online and print 10 copies. That way I can leave one in the boat, one on my fly fishing gear, one in my car, backups at home

I buy mine online and save the PDF so i can print them out whenever i need to which for my out of state PA license is pretty important because they charge you $5 or something for a reprint which isn't really a reprint but rather the file so you can print it yourself at your own expense.

I also talked to a VA DGIF officer because he wanted to see my license and i had it saved to my iPhone so i showed him the electronic form of the license.  I asked him if that was ok and he said technically yo uare supposed to have the physical license but he doubts highly that anyone would ever have a problem with the electronic version.

With that being said, i haven't printed a license in the past 3 years.

I've been buying it on line now for a few years and for all the reason already mentioned here.

Additionally, if you fish in more than one state and / or travel a ways to fish in another state, that ability / convenience of getting the paper work done in advance is nice.
