Luck E Strike Wart Hog

Recommended Posts

Anybody fished the newer ones? I had a few of the older ones and they swam terrible and leaked water but they're supposed to have that problem fixed. They're supposed to be made similar to the old wiggle warts that work so well in some of our lakes. I'd like to try them again if the problem really is fixed.

Nope. Too many other options to consider than the Warthog.

Of course, Rick Clunn is out there hawking them but for me I will stick with the Bandits, KVD's Strike Kings and Spros.

Being a Table Rock guy I fish the wart a lot. The warthog is actually pretty good, I have heard of some issues with the early ones but I haven't had any. The paint is ok ,I like the moss green and brown craw. Of course some seem to run better than others, but I have a dozen or so pre-rapala warts that run different from bait to bait also.

Good to know. Table Rock and Bull Shoals are the two lake I primarily fish a wart on but my pre Rapala warts are way too valuable to me to fish elsewhere. You just can't appreciate how effective they are on those lakes until you get on a good wart bite and they seem to be interested in biting nothing but a wart. I'll have to give a couple more of them a try. I guess for $4 a bait it isn't so bad if I can get one out of every few baits to run well.

i have heard of the isssues with the wart hog.  whether they have been fixed, i have not heard.  true, there are times that the wide wobble of a wiggle wart can not be beat.  but, many times when bass are wanting a wide wobble, the original bomber will catch as many or more bass.  especially the old wood ones.  on bull shoals, there are times that a deep wee r or a model a bomber will out produce the wiggle wart.  too many bassers get stuck to using only one crankbait, and that can mean not catching as many bass as you could be.  the wiggle of different brands of crankbaits vary from wide wobbles to a really tight wiggle such as a shad rap.  do not be afraid to experiment by throwing different cranks to hone in on the right wiggle the bass are looking for.
