What the heck is he using?

Featured Replies

He uses some type of weight that goes up into the tube where it lets you T-Rig it without a bullet weight.

Does anyone know where i could these? Hopefully i can get them at local store (cabelas, GM, or Dicks)

Thanks,

VC

You can do that with any weight, I use a 1/4oz or larger bullet weight slid up there, or larger split shots. Owner phantom tube hooks are also nice, but they can be expensive.

When you trig a tube slide the weight in there before you rig up the hook point on the back of the tube. Your hooks should keep the weight from sliding out. You might have to adjust the weight to the front sometimes cause it will slide back. One other thing you can do with this presentation is adjust where the weight is in the tube to get different falls

You Can also use a bell sinker.Slide it in ring first the as you stick your hook in the top try to manipulate the hook point through the ring. The hook holds the weight in place.

Well, neither the Phantom hook nor the bell sinker has a rattle in it.

Lindy EZ Tube Weights come with or without rattles and attach to the hook inside of the tube.

I have never seen the need for a rattle when I am t-rigging a tube like this, its usually a change up bait from a jig so I like it different, including silent.

I used these. No rattles. A little tricky to rig. Might want to practice on a few recycled tubes. Rigged with an EWG hooks makes a nice compact weedless presentation.

For reference - I use a 2/0 ewg hook with a 3.5" tube.

:D

Oh geez, imho...

Stay away from the owner phantom hooks like the plague.

Tubes are one of my go to baits and I usually rig them using a 1/8oz unpegged bullet weight on a 2/0 or 3/0ewg. I wanted something a bit diff. so I tried the phantom hooks.

Every fish I set the hook on that day with the phantom hook came off. 66MF casting rod. At first I thought it was the hook set so I really gave it to them. Still they would come off....Hookset...fight...slack... After about 5 fish I switched back to my regular setup and no more lost fish.

Agreed. They made it difficult for me to hook fish as well.
