7 Mbps upload?? Wow. That's awesome high. I have AT&T UVerse with around 1.5 up and 7 down.

I suppose it all depends on your ISP, location and type of connection.

If he were exceeding bandwidth, he wouldn't be able to continue to reupload though would he? Bandwidth is normally given on a monthly basis, so if he's exceeded it, he's done for the month, so I don't think that's the case, but I could be wrong.

Location does play a huge part.

Cable internet is actually shared internet amongst your neighbors being that the source comes from a main line and is dispersed to each household. So in an area like I live that is heavily populated, one person consuming huge amounts of bandwith can be throttled or cut off even by the ISP.  I can't speak for DSL or Sattlelite as I'm not 100% sure on it.

I think what is happening is at the 17% upload its actually timing out his connection, forcing it to stop.  I could be wrong....but that's the only thing that makes sense to me if he can view his file on media player.

I have u verse

Jeff

I agree, sounds like its probably timing out your connection. I don't have an answer for that right on hand, but you can google it and should get plenty of results and things to try. Only thing I could suggest is to keep trying and make sure there is no other activity on your network at the time.

If all else fails, contact AT&T about your Internet being slow and timing out.

I believe a PM with Mark might have just shown me my culprit.  The upload is at 54% right now.  He simply stated something to me.  Make sure your computer doesnt go to "sleep mode".  I bet everytime I started the upload, and then left computer alone, it went into "sleep mode" at the 17% stage.  I just turned off sleep, and will check it again in a couple hours to see if it finishes.

Jeff

Ahh, I didn't even think of something that simple. That would do it. Glad Mark got that figured out for you. I have a degree in computer programming and I tend to think about deeper, more technical things than something as simple as that. Hope it finishes uploading for you.

Nice! Hopefully that's it. 54% is a good sign.

If you are doing clips that you are going to splice together later and you don't want to surf through a whole day of fishing, you can try what I do.

If I catch a fish worth putting out there for people to see, I'll land it, unhook it, show it to the camera, etc. At that point, I will stop the video and re-start the video. That way, when you get home you will be loading a couple (bunch) of smaller clips and at the end of each "important" one will be the fish you want to put in the vid.

Sounds very rudimentary, but it's effective.
