Featured Replies

So I was looking at Walmart tonight at the clearence section and saw a few of these spinning reels..I was curious if anyone here had used then much..I seen on the Internet they were regular 60-80$ and Walmart had them clearence for 20$...I mostly use baitcasters but I have been wanting a decent spinning reel for a little bit too..I'm curious please enlightened me on these cause I'm debating on whether I should go back out there thanks..I have a a cumara spinning rod I got at a flea market not too long ago that doesn't get much use..

It's a fine reel. I have had one for close to 3 years; still going strong.

P.S. Got it serviced last summer by DVT, and that's the only maintenance ever performed to it.

I have 2 of them, one on my dropshot rod, one on my wacky jig/shaky head rod. Great reels for the $. I paid full price for mine at TW which I think was $50. I have owned other reels in this price range, I won't name names, but un-like other reels in that range, the Shimanos have gotten smoother with use, and the drags are smooth and reliable. All with ZERO maint. I would scoop them up for $20 in a heart beat. Mine have put more than a few 4-5 lb smallmouth in the boat, and several 5+ lb largemouth. I am not a big fan of spending big money on spinning reels, especialy not when a $50 Shimano has performed as well or better than I expected.

It's a good reel for $50, but a great reel for $20.  All ya need for 10# and under fish.

They are a good reel. I bought 3 from the flea market on here a few weeks back, just to have as spares plus he had 5 xtra spools to go with them.

If my local Wal-Mart had those for $20, I'd be all over it. I have an "vintage" Sonora 2000F that I've used pretty hard for 15 years or more, and it's still going strong. Great reels for the money.Fabulous reel for $20.

Definitely pick it/them up at that price. I have a couple on back up/loaner rods (Lamiglas Excel and Berkley Shock) and they match up nicely. My buddies that are SF Giants fans absolutely love them!
