Best is subjective, if the jerkbait does what you want it to do, on the line you choose, who cares what anyone else thinks what is "best" or "right". I toss mine on casting gear with 20lb braid with a 10 or 12 lb fluoro leader, and on spinning gear with 15lb braid and an 8 or 10 lb fluoro leader. Works for me, I don't care what anyone else thinks is better.

Same here.

Pretty much 10# mono 100% of the time I fish jerkbaits. I would think 15# might kill the action. Floro would be my second choice.

8lb Yo-Zuri at the moment. Pulled in a 31" pike with it on my last trip out and didn't lose my Max Rap, so I'm happy with it so far.

FC sinks if and will get them deeper

I threw them on #6 yo-zuri hybrid ultrasoft this past year. Just started down the jerkbait road, so not sure if other line types may be better, but I did have moderate success with them this year.

If you want your bait to run more shallow, throw it on mono, the heavier the mono, the shallower the bait will run.  If you want to get it deeper, throw it on fluoro, the lighter the fluoro, the deeper your bait will run.  If you fish a suspending jerkbait super slow with fluoro, it will actually make your bait sink because the line will drag it down.  Choose the right line for the given situation.

Also, in general, the heavier you go with your line, the less action the bait will have.  For me, 10 lb fluoro is a good all around jerkbait line.

Typically throw mine on 10-12 fluoro, but like WW2 said to each his own, and what works for you works for you.

I second Yo Zuri I use it for just about everything and it is flat out the best all around line I have ever used. I have never used any of the other hybrid lines but they might be just as good.

For me, 14 lb Fireline Crystal with a shortish fluorocarbon leader (2 foot or so) works for me.  I line to throw jerkbaits with spinning gear, mostly so that I don't have to worry about the wind as much.  When you've got your jerked down to suspending depth (4 feet or so) and you stop it, the Crystal Fireline works like a strike indicator, i.e. you will see the line move long before you feel the hit.   That gives me the confidence to not move it and let it suspend for longer periods of time.

I've thrown them on 8# mono, 10#FC and 12#hybrid this winter.  I like the hybrid best of all three.

I use 10# P-Line CXX.

I've used Trilene Big Game 10# for years and see no reason to change.

I'm usually in gin clear water when I throw jerkbaits, and I've been pleased with 8# Sunline Super Natural. Thin, manageable, and casts a mile.
