Anybody ever used a Cashion rod? I am looking for a new jig/plastic rod and want the most sensitive stick I can get. I thought these look pretty interesting. I have only been able to find a few reviews and posts on them but for the most part they are positive. 

 

If anyone has used or seen these, I'd really like to know what you think of them!

IMO they are pretty ugly so I never used them.  I like st. croixs a whole hell of a lot.

Based on the one that i repaired and the couple I've handled since then, they have the worst fit and finish of any rod I've ever seen.

In no way am I ripping cashion rods, but if you want the most sensitive rod that you can get why dont you go with a St. Croix or a G.Loomis. Those rods have a reputation for sensitivity and quality.

Alot of guys down here in NC use Cashion rods, i have fished one on a friends boat, and i liked it, but i liked my buddy's GLX alot more. St. Croix Legend Elite and Extremes are super sensitive too!

For 70 or 80 bucks more you can get last years Legend extreme on the Bargain Room on st croixs website.

Haven't handled one but I've mostly heard good things.

Haven't been impressed. I have a 7'6 MH, might try it for crankbaits, but its not a bottom contact rod. Agree with most of the comments above.

I just can't get past the cosmetics. I like my equipment to look good, atleast to me, and these rods just look terrible. Does it matter that much? Not really, but if I'm putting money out I want to enjoy looking at it during these long periods of near senselessness known commonly as winter. I have also heard complaints about the quality of the construction in the rods.

It definitely isn't the prettiest rod out there, although if it works really good that would be more important to me. I've also been looking at the 13 fishing "*** Black" rod which is about the opposite of the cashion as far as looks. The *** is so new that I haven't really heard how it is performance wise though.

Duck what is your max price that you want to spend on the rod?

Around $200 is what I've been looking at, but I'm willing spend more if I find something I like.

Look into the Powell Rods. They run 150-170. They are very sensitive for the money and have good components. I have several of them and im hooked!

But so im not impartial, look at the St. Croix Avids or Shimano Crucials, Dobyns Champion series. alot of guys on here rave about those rods. The new cumaras from shimano are supposed to be beasts too!

For around 200 I'd look at a Powell, Duckett, Phenix or St. Croix.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've looked at most of those and the powell endurance is one of the rods I've been considering. I'm just trying to find out about some of the lesser known/newer rods first to make sure I'm not missing out on something special. Like I said before, sensitivity is the main thing I'm looking for in a rod.

I love my Cashion.
