trailers for bucktail jigs

Featured Replies

hello, got some bucktail jigs, was wondering if you use trailers and what kind, hoping to catch some smallies, tia

I usually use a grub as a trailer.  Occasionally a Zoom swimming chunk.

Sometimes bucktails are more effective w/o a trailer, so experiment both ways.

That is a nice looking jig Kou ;D

It depends if its cold or warm water, in cold water I use a small chunk trailer (like 2" or so) with the chunk part trimmed to a v so it doesn't flair the hair all weird. In warm water I use a hand poured swimming chunk or a similar trailer with lots of action

Wonder who i got it from! haha and i only use hair jigs while the water is still under 50degrees.

Try the back half of a chewed up Trick Worm. The point of using bucktail is to have LESS action in COLD water.

Trick worm is going to have about ten times the action of a small chunk trailer

Yes, it has more action than a small chunk, but still far less than a curly tail grub.

i like to use the berkley gulp alive minnows and leeches
