I fish all kinds of trailers on a swim jig but never a Grass Pig1 They look just too big. So are you guys cutting the grass pig down or useing the whole grass pig on a swim jig? I fish only the NorthStar swim jig!

It depends on the size of the swim jig but I use a 3/16oz and 1/4oz mostly so the trailers that go on those tend to be 3.5" Gene Larew Sweet Swimmers or 3.75" River Rock Strikers. If I was using a 3/8oz or 1/2oz swim jig then a grass pig would work for both, for the 3/8oz all you need to do is bite a half inch off and leave it whole for the larger one. The idea in using a swim jig with a swimbait trailer is to bulk up the presentation, you are getting a bait through cover and into the fishes territory and it looks larger than it actually is, that is what draws the big strikes. Remember that bass will eat fish this size and bigger if they can get it in their mouth, I've witnessed 7" chub in my live well that was spit up by the 4lb 9oz smallmouth I had in there, after that is when I began using swim jigs with swimbaits.

I use those and Subwoofers. I bite some of the head off, spit all over the ground wondering why I just did that when I have 2 knives on me, and thread it on the jig!

Yes sir, bite an 1" or so off and get after it. I use grass pigs on my NSCB swim jigs with great luck. Also as Rockchalk06 said the subwoofer is a great swim jig trailer. 

I put the whole thing on swim jigs or spinnerbaits. It is big but it gets bigger bites. 

I am fairly certain that they make a smaller grass pig. It would be good on your 1/4 oz swim jigs.

I use standard grass pigs on chatterbaits and they rule.

Edit: For what it's worth, the Rage Tail Rage Grub makes an excellent swim jig trailer.

They do make 2 different sizes - 3.5 in and 5 in I believe.

i also cut off about 1 inch off the head as well. Other really good swim jig trailers are the Rage Tail Menace and the havoc devil spear. The devil spear could be the most underrated bait on the market today. Its very versatile, cheap to buy, and has great action.

I will take a look at the Devil spear,I was at Bass Pro and I did see that the Grass Pig comes in 3.5 in. a 4 in. and the 5in..So on a swim jig would I hurt the action going to the 3.5 or the 4in.Grass pig? The 5 in. seems to have a thicker body than the 3.5 and the 4in.I am not sure if the action will change on a swim jig per size of the grass pig?

I don't need all the colors in the Grsass Pig for swim jigs,but what colors do you guys use on your jigs? I was just thinking of white,watermelon red,watermelon candy.

I like colors that will match up well with bream,bluegil,perch. I do have some shad and herring imitators but where i throw my swim jigs there is usually abundant panfish.

Ill go lighter or darker shades depending on water clarity.

Green pumkin/watermelon and Bama Bug are two good colors to start with. Black and blue is another good one.

I wasnt being color specific to the Grass pig but really any trailer. Pumpkin is a good color for clearer water.
