I usually use a 4/0 Gami EWG for 5in Senkos but I tried it today on a 6in Senko for the first time and I lost several fish.  For some reason, I had trouble setting the hook.  Is it me or do I need to step up to a larger sized hook?  

That's the exact hook I use with a 6 inch senko.  Strange that you were missing the hook set.

I use a 4/0 for a 6 inch worm of any kind.  It certainly wouldn't hurt to pick up some 5/0 and try it out.

I apologize, I mispoke eariler.  I do use 4/0 hooks, but they are not gammy's, they are the owner wide gap plus hooks.  I just started using those at the end of last year and they are great for thicker baits.  They have a wider gap so they can penetrate further through the plastic.  I bought them for fishing fat ika's and they work well for 6 inch senkos as well.

I use the Daiichi Fat Gap Bleeding Bait hooks for 6" Yamamoto Senkos.

Unless the water is crystal clear, I also 50 lb test PowerPro Hi-Vis Yellow line. It helps

me see and feel the strikes a lot better.
