Swithwick Rattin Rogue.... Good Bait?

Featured Replies

Do you guys think this a quality jerk bait compared to the others on the market and are there any draw backs to this bait??

Welcome to the board! Glad to see a new face, oh wait, you don't have one yet.  Be sure to stop by the introduction forum and tell us a bit about yourself. Now about Rogues.

It's one of the only jerkbaits I throw for a couple of reasons. It's moderately priced, comes with decent hooks, is available in suspending and floating models of different sizes.  The other jerkbait I like in a floating model is a Rebel, but as I said these are near the bottom of the price range of this type of bait. Oh yea, did I mention they catch fish?

Jerkbaits are my favorite lures to "collect".  I like some other brands, but what stands out about

the Smithwick Rogues is "value". Two weeks ago I had a 30+ day with a couple on the Red Eye

Shad, the rest on different Rogues. The lure is every bit as effective as the higher priced brands.

To be fair, there are a couple of knocks on the bait that are pretty well known, but that can be

easily addressed.

1. Suspension can be an issue right out of the box or after some usage. Dots will fix this problem.

2. The hooks are just fine to start with, but you may want to change them out later.

I'm really excited to get my paws on The Perfect 10, Smithwick's newest introduction. I will post a review

after I fish these a few times.

I don't own a boat so what should i cast to or look for in the water when you are using a jerk bait?
