What Reel Should I Put On..

Featured Replies

The St.Croix Legend Xteme 72MM (using it for crankbaits) I was thinking about buying another Abu Garcia Gen 3 winch.

What are some other good options?

Any reel with a 22-25 IPT retrieve will work fine.  The Winch is a good choice, as is the Chronarch e5.  Daiwa Lexa is another option.  I use a Daiwa TD-Sol on my SC 70MM.  They can be found reasonably priced on the used market.

I'll probably get a lot of hate for this but I would get a Shimano chronarch 200e5.

LOL

Well this time he didn't specifically "ask" for a product.  He's asking in general.

To the question, since this isn't going to be a deep cranker, I would think any 5 to 1 ratio reel would work. Don't need to break the bank at all (BPS PQ or Extreme), I bought an Extreme and don't think it has any issues doing what you want it to do.

x2. Have this on my cranking rod and it works great. Money well spent.

Lews or Abu for me. Just choose a good reel you like and go catch some bass. Doesn't matter what we say, it's what you like.

Im just asking because all ive ever used are Abu Garcia reels. Im trying to explore new options

I just picked up a BPS pro qualifier for cranking and in two trips out I have been very pleased. It also comes in every gear ratio under the sun for both righties and lefties

A Conquest 51 or the 101DC would make for a heavenly combo.

Daiwa Lexa 100.

X3. Right out of the box they are easy to throw. But remember it has to feel right in your hands too

I forgot to add that if you want to stick with a domestic reel, the Calcutta TE 101GT is worth a look.

I really wish Shimano made a 101 in the Calcutta DC

I would lean hard on the Chronarch E5 followed by the Abu Winch. I am more than impressed with my E7. My next is more than likely going to be an E5. The Chronarch has a few more features that I like over the Winch.

I think you misunderstood the reason everybody cracked the whip on you last time. He asked for your opinion on a reel and left the topic open. Hell I said Chronarch E series too. Point we all tried to make was when a guy asked about two specific products, you threw in a bid on a different product followed by an "it sucked" and left it at that. No one wants to hear thst
