Sunglasses And Sonar

Featured Replies

Can see my HB535 at the bow just fine with polarized glasses but have to look under the frames on my new lowrance to see it when standing on the deck(its at the helm). I can see it fine strait on from the wheel but at an angle standing up, no go.

Is there a cure for this?

Is this why they make half lense glasses? Im using solarbat batitude glasses.

Some screens don't do well with polarized. I have a bit of trouble with 'bird at weird angles.

Wondering if maybe its LED backlight vs traditional backlight. My lowrance is leaps and bounds ahead of my older HB in clarity, contrast and brightness.

The new Dragonfly from Raymarine is supposed to be polarized compatible.

The Lowrance and Humminbird displays have a top right to lower left polarization and Garmins have a top left to lower right polarization. That's just the way they are made.

Doesn't make sense--you just have to be aware of it when wearing polarized lenses.

If you tilt your head so your polarized glasses are perpendicular to the screen polarization, it will block the screen.

If your tilt your head the opposite way the screen will look brighter.

Hold you head uprright and the screen will be a little darker.

same thing if you put on polarized sunglasses and look at a tv screen or laptop. Tilt the screen and youll see it go black all of the sudden

Great info.  Just try to get the angle right.  Or lay on your side and look at it.  Ha.  But you can also tell if another pair of sunglasses are polarized or not by wearing your polarized glasses and holding the other pair in front of you rightside up.  They will be black.  Turn them 90 degrees and you'll be able to see them.  Just some useless information.  Ha.
