What Motivates You To Fish For Bass?
The next catch... there will always be one.

Reel Brake Settings - Flipping & Pitching ?
I always have two on just from regular casting and never adjust if I come up to a dock or pitching situation. No need to take off the sideplate just for that. But you want to turn your spool tension down which will increase your distance with less effort. When first starting out though you may need more tension. Over time you'll feel more comfortable using your thumb as the 'tension.' Love me some pitchin'

Structure Scan Install
Or maybe I should ask if the 4200 will work on aluminum because it doesn't mention metal on the package

Can I use marine grade silicone?

Structure Scan Install
Wayne helped me out as well. Any suggestions on good silicone to seal up the drill/screw holes?

Structure Scan Install
Well you don't want the LSS2 to pick up the lower unit doing its scan. I think I've read somewhere that some people need to trim up to run it.

90 Or 115?
Accurate

Structure Scan Install
This requirement is so the 2D transducer doesn't get in the way of the structure scan, not for the overlay from my understanding. The requirement for the overlay is when they say to mount them within 1-2 feet (or whatever they say) of each other so you can have the most accurate overlay as possible.

Motorguide Or Minn Kota?
Sorry to correct you, but the MK button is on the left and MG is on the right. I have a MK and the only thing I don't like about it is the plastic case on the head. I've had it break on me and my trolling motor guy said he sees this a lot. MG has a a metal case here instead. Other than that, love the MK.

Structure Scan Install
Currently it looks like the one on the top (first picture). Another question I had is do I have to replace this transducer? Or does Lowrance use the same one for all their units. They all look the same. Ha. I'm sure I need to since the internals of the old and new transducer aren't the same. Figured I would ask to save time if I could. Looking at these pictures... I have one additional pump out hole located to the starboard side of the bilge drain hole. I n other words, I have two of the black fittings where only one is shown in these pictures.

Structure Scan Install
I don't have any pics handy or I would. The boat is 5 miles away at the park. I probably won't get to it for a little bit.

Structure Scan Install
So the wake or other affects from the prop won't affect or interfere with 'reception' of the SS?
-
Structure Scan Install
I searched the archives but couldn't find what I was looking for. So I'm going to be ordering an HDS 7 with SS and was wondering out the SS transducer location (LSS). I know this is supposed to be within one foot of the sounder and to keep it below the sounder transducer, according to the installation manual online. But it doesn't say anything about keeping it away a certain distance from the prop. It just says to make sure it doesn't interfere with the trim. I'm worried about interference with the prop.

115 Optimax Pro Xs Question
It depends on conditions and number of people, obviously, but it ranges from 46-50 mph on GPS. The speedometer on mine, like most boats, isn't 100 percent accurate.

115 Optimax Pro Xs Question
I have a 115 Opti and I can't think of any serious vibrations. I think once in a while when I come off plane after a long run, it may vibrate a little more than usual around 1500 rpms but it smooths out. I wonder if this is the same type of thing. Is this your first 'larger' motor? Could just seem like more vibration than you're used to. Is it cutting out/dying at all? You probalby aren't going to run at those rpms too often (not meaning it's OK) but my motor runs way better at idle and WOT as far as 'smoothness'. Just saying.

Mixing Skirt/jig Colors
Just spent an hour figuring out if I should reorganize my jigs by color and size or by size and head type. I've run out of space in my one box so I'm mixing my black and blues and green and browns. Do you think my skirt colors will bleed onto one another?

Polarized Sunglasses
Apparently the neighborhood burglar thinks I should have bought Oakley's. I found my Costas on the sidewalk this morning outside of their cases (but with the case) after leaving my truck unlocked overnight. The logo on mine is blacked out so maybe they thought they were a cheap pair. I wonder if this helped or maybe it's because Costa has less brand recognition outside of the boater/fisherman world. Or maybe it's because they just didn't like my style. Regardless, they probably didn't realize that the resale value of them was more than anything else that they stole last night. Bottom line is that my argument will forever be that robbers are less likely to steal Costas. Ha.

Florida/disney
Yeah, well the ones outside of Disney look amazing too. They're every 500 yards too. Crazy.

Florida/disney
So I'm sitting here in our coach bus on our way to Disney. I've already seen about 20 bodies of water that look like they had bass. Why does every storm runoff pond look like a ten pounder is in there? The canals look really cool too. Would love to take a fishing vacation down here by myself.

Getting Up For Fishing
I lean towards later, but if the only time I can get out for the day is bright and early, then I'll go out at dawn. Temp also needs to be above 45 which is pretty rare that early now. I won't have time to do this until my trolling motor is fixed either. So I'm probably out until the beginning of December which means early morning is even more out of the question.

Thrust Washer For New Prop
Thanks man. I figured it should be especially since it's Mercury old prop to Mercury new prop. Anyone else have any other experience with this?

Lake Anna Winter Crank Bait?
Correct. He said he fishes there so I was hoping he would host us on the warm side since he would be the guy I know.
