  1. I live right up 95, but always go to the Potomac because I'm 4 miles away from that but I've been dying to get out on Anna during the winter on the warm side. I've heard the water is about 70+ degrees during the winter. You should host us sometime so we can try to figure out which lures work
  2. I have a 2012, 115 hp Optimax and I'm upgrading from my standard Mercury aluminum prop (12.75 x 21P) to a Mercury stainless prop (13.5 x 21P). Does anyone know if my current thrust washer will work with this new prop? Or will I have to purchase a new one.
  3. Do you have access to the warm side during the winter?
  4. Not to get off topic, but I wonder if there is an old Snakehead forum that started just like this outside the Potomac River. Ha.
  5. Is toilet bowl cleaner safe for aluminum hulls?
  6. I remove the thrust hub, cleaned the shaft there and greased. Actually mine was a little sticky but I pried it off which made me definitely want to clean and grease from now on. It only takes an extra couple seconds to do it. Great point.
  7. Now wouldn't that be something. Now that would be Murphy's law.
  8. Alright, so you're a backer-offer. I wonder if I should have done that instead. I guess I'm just too OCD about this.
  9. Thanks. Well it ended up being about 65 pounds. I still used my torque wrench to see what it was at. Think that was too much?
  10. Haha. I hate you. I'll remain optimistic about the whole thing. I feel pretty good about it.
  11. Need everyone's opinion. I was greasing my prop shaft before winter and ran into something. So the tightening specs for my prop is 55 lb. ft. When I tighten it down to 55, the locking key ring doesn't line up. So I had two options. Tighten it a little more to make it line up, or loosen it up a bit to make it line up. I went with the tighten it a little more option. Does anyone know what to do in this situation? I hope I did right.
  12. UPDATE--I took out the fuel gauge tube and was able to see in. The only thing is the hole was so small that I could only see about half the tank. Bottom line is that I couldn't see it. However, I did see a little bit of debris in there. For example there were some plastic shavings in there fro when they drilled the holes for the fuel pickup lines. This made me wonder how dirty all of our gas tanks are. It actually made me feel a little better about this piece going in there.
  13. I think what he's asking and is curious about is do they just hit the bottom part or do they attack the whole thing... not how does a bass attack (any) food. The unsupported answer is it almost always hits the jig part of the bait. Don't know why, but that's how it is. I've actually seen videos of pros saying this multiple times. On your other question..... I wouldn't spread or tighten the arms anymore than what it takes to get a spinnerbait running incorrectly. Most times they are tuned pretty good coming out of the box, but they require a little adjusting once in a while.
  14. So was I right or was I right. You guys never let me down for a good ol' fashion sunglasses debate.
  15. I use plastic shoe boxes from Walleyworld. The bags stand up straight in these so you can sift through them quickly and find what you need.
  16. Yeah I have costas as well. I was just saying that not all costas are made with glass lenses.
  17. You must have the 580 lens. I don't think all costa lenses are glass. I have the 400 lens.
  18. $30 pair will work better than non polarized glasses and work great for the price but won't last as long as the other, higher investment lenses. The higher price tags are due to lens quality with a little bit of brand inflation. I had a great pair of $30 polarized but they eventually wore out simply by cleaning the. The coat they put on the lenses will eventually wear out and you will get a smudge on your lenses. In addition the cheaper ones scratch easier from personal experience.
  19. Administrators.... Can we pin all the threads on sunglasses into its own separate website. Or just summarize it by saying yes polarizd helps, you get what you pay for and the best brand is what you currently own and your brand is better than what the other guy has. Thanks.
  20. Wait foooorrr iiiiitttt... here comes the Costa vs. Oakley debate.
  21. Mixing quicksilver DFI oil and mercury DFI oil won't have any impact will it?
  22. Where are you getting a gallon of quiksilver for 19.97? Sign me up.
  23. If I could see you I would hug you right now. This is an amazing deal. I didn't check out to see how much shipping was but this is freaken cheap. I buy the Quicksilver DFI oil and it's approx. $40/gallon at my local marine shop. This is like buying two and getting one free. Plus it's the Mercury brand. I'm almost certain (in my head) that Quiksilver and Mercury is the same oil.
