  1. Well everyone knows what we pay for these things. Ha. So the 190 brand new with taxes was around $20k. I owe about $15k on it. I'd be ok with just getting my money back.
  2. Well last year I bought a brand new 2013 Tracker 190PT. After taxes and everything, these run around $20K-ish. I've added an extra battery, spare tire, boat buckles and a few other things. Boat is in great condition. Well I came across a 2010 Z8 for about $23K. He says it's only been used 20 times and has approx 50 hours on the motor give or take (computer said 40 hours a year ago so he's not sure where it's at now). It has a 70 lb-ish 24v trolling motor on it and no major electronic upgrades. My question is, how much do you think my boat has depreciated? Let's consider his boat to be in great condition as well (assuming it floats and all electronics work). Do you think this is a good deal and I should jump on it? I just feel weird going down from a 2013 to a 2010, but I really want a fiberglass boat for the Potomac.
  3. What type of screw would be the best to secure my TM foot pedal to the deck (wood) of my tracker? Short/long dry-wall screw?
  4. Awesome. Great post. Ill look into this. Might buy one for a backup, install it for the rest of the year, take it back off, install the old one and take it for repair after season. I don't have time to wait two weeks for my trolling motor guys to even look at it. Thanks again bud.
  5. Yeah like I said in my post its not a solder point but thanks for the info. I've heard that they do solder some points in the head though and I was wondering if it could be a separate issue from the wiring. I'm just trying to get some info on what the possible causes are before i make a decision. If it doesnt require immediate attention then it'll have to wait until after tournament season. Not trying to say I'm not going to take your advice buddy. This is why we're on here to talk and get better knowledge and share prior experiences. I wish you the best of luck.
  6. Ha. Extinguisher is on board. So this was a bad solder at the factory or what? I did notice the end of the yellow cord had some black to it. It's not a solder point though. The wire has a hookup adapter to it. So I guess I just need to cut this off and hookup to a new connector. The tape wasn't to fix it... The tape was to keep the other wires from melting more from the hot wire. So it does have some purpose
  7. I have a MK Edge and, recently, speeds 3 & 4 will stop working every one in a while all together. They usually come back on, but I'm left with having speeds 1, 2, and 5 when they go out. I noticed in the foot pedal that some of the wires appear to be overheating. I put electrical tape over the wires that were partially damaged. It's still under warranty but I probably won't take it in until the season is over to get fixed. I have two batteries running this motor (hooked up in parallel). Does anyone know what this could possibly be? And do you think the double amperage has any affect on overloading the wiring of the trolling motor?
  8. Just go on CL and look around then search for used boats on the big used boat website..... THEN go to BPS website and custom build a brand new fiberglass bass boat. They have a little tool that let's you start with the base model and add everything that you would want. It's all for fun. I think this will give you the best idea of how much everything that you want costs and where you can compromise; or pretty much eliminate the new boat option. I recommend an aluminum boat for your first boat... possibly a jon boat. Start out cheap and beat the crap out of it.... get all those dock dings out of the way with a boat where it doesn't matter.
  9. Yeah thanks. I mounted this earlier in the year. Works fine. I see you got the tracker wheel n tire. Did you buy that from Tracker @ BPS? I just bought the same size generic one from BPS. But I wish I had a tracker one so the wheels would match. No biggie though.
  10. Not sure if any of you Potomac-heads have seen/heard about this yet. I heard about it, but just read it in the news. http://www.wjla.com/articles/2013/08/ranavirus-found-in-snakeheads-in-potomac-river-tributaries-92722.html
  11. Stabil Marine formula for ethanol treatment and Quickleen to clean the effects of ethanol everytime I add gas, here. I believe in my Mercury manual it said to add Quickleen everytime.
  12. Trapper has a picture above of his. Not sure if his is a 175 or a 165. I actually won't get to my boat until after the weekend, likely. We're going away tomorrow for vacation. Do you think it will help if mine is a 190?
  13. No it just bolted right on and the straps had a straight (unobstructed) line to the tie down hooks. The boatbuckles are closer to the bottom of the transom than yours are. But I think there's enough clearance to launch and retrieve the boat.
  14. Just put them on the trailer today. Great purchase. Thanks for the info.
  15. I think $30 is the cheapest you're going to find. Again, coated steel cabled clothesline was your cheapest and quickest option.
  16. Just looked at the viking marine ripcord. I didn't see this on the website I sometimes shop at when mine broke a little bit ago. I might have dropped the money on this one if I saw it at that time. The clothesline is working fine for now and looks to be similiar to this viking cord. If it happens again, I'll probably get this. Does it work with your factory handle? It looks like it does. Regardless, I think everyone should keep a spare 4 ft section of cheap clothesline on the boat. That and a pair of needlenose pliers is all you need to fix a broken cord. Takes about 10 mins. to fix.
  17. Happened to me about a month ago. It happens to everyone. Go to your hardware store and buy $5 clothesline cable. It has a vinyl coating over steal braided cable. It won't break for a couple years (if ever). Going with any type of cord is bound to break again in the near future.
  18. On the caffeine shads, isn't the slit on the belly?
  19. Yeah this reminded me that I should be carrying a set of alan wrenches on the boat. But I just added some thread lock to it, so it should be good for a while now. It was actually stripping the threads a little bit when it was loose because of all the movement of the motor engaging and swinging the arm up and down.
  20. Awesome, I've been admiring these on other guys' trailers. I found it for $55 on a trailer site I usually buy stuff off of. I'm signing up. I'll order the adapter if it doesn't work on the first attempt.
  21. Did these bolt right on your trailer? Or were there any modifications you had to make.
  22. One last thing (not sure if it was mentioned above), is to make sure you get the strings to make sure they stay on your head. I forget what they're called. I had a pair of RayBans go in the river last month when I was untieing the boat from the dock. I'll never wear glasses on the water without them again. I don't care how dorky I look.
  23. Little late on this, but I literally switched from Oakley to Costas two weekends ago (both polarized) and couldn't believe how much more I could see under water. The Potomac can be pretty muddy, but I started noticing more clear water with my new Costas. I got the Costa Saltbreak with blue mirror lens. Love 'm.
  24. I think this thread just went to the NSA.
