Anyone On Potomac?
I was out that same Sunday. Very windy. It was hard to keep my tin boat in one place. It made me finalize my plans on adding a second trolling battery. If I was out all day one battery would've been dead. Nice to be in the water though. I saw 60 degree weather in the 10 day forecast.

Charging Batteries In Parallel
Ok so I just bought a battery to hook up in parallel. The guys at bass pro were telling me I can't charge both trolling batteries on one bank. I'm skeptical of their opinion. Should I hook the one bank up to both batteries or just have the charger on the positive and negative of one battery? I don't want to have to disconnect the one battery every time.

Best Fluoro (For Braid Guy)
It's all good skeletor. I've also heard that FC is made at very few factories in the world and some of FC u buy are the same as other ones that may cost more. That's all heresay though.

Best Fluoro (For Braid Guy)
I respectfully disagree with skeletor on cheaper FC. I use stren flurocast and like it a lot. The biggest thing about people not liking FC is that try expect it to cast like mono. Well thats not going to happen. I'm not saying all cheap FC are good. But you may find that you like a cheaper one better than a higher grade or mid grade one. But you should make the decision for yourself and everyone is entitled to their opinions.

Anyone On Potomac?
The marine forecast website that I go to says it's about 39-40 degrees for the past couple weeks and my depthfinder was reporting the same about a week ago. But after the recent storm, it was reporting above 45 degrees on the surface. I don't know if this had to do with storm run off or what. It was muddy as heck though. I don't see how it could have warmed up that fast in about week.

BTW, water was 44-46 degrees on 2/27 after the recent rain we had.

Anyone On Potomac?
Has anyone been on the Potomac lately? I've been out about 3 times just kind of putting around and running the motor. I've done a couple hours of fishing, but the water has been pretty milky lately with the rain. Haven't hooked up yet, but everyone that I've talked to has said it's pretty slow as well. Just wondering if anyone else has been out and how they're doing?

Best Fluoro (For Braid Guy)
I'm not going to recommend any of the products, but my personal opinion is try some of the cheaper versions or a copoly ... fluoro can be expensive when you might be satisfied having something less expensive. I would hate to spend money on an expensive FC that I would never use again.

Xps 8 Advanced Braid
I provide no input for this subject on their braid. I saw this in the new catalog and was intrigued, but I recently switched to 832 and I'm in love so far. I'm a little hesitant to buy BPS line after I tried their mono. I've heard their Fluoro is amazing. I've never tried it though. Again... I guess there's no good feedback here... sorry.

Charging Batteries In Parallel
Right, we're not trying to be exact (as we all know batteries are an inexact science). But the calculations using the Ah or the Reserve capacity can give you a guestimate. Thanks for your input.

Bass Fishing Near State College,pa
Sayer's is a decent lake for little dinks. They probably have it drained right now .... Not sure if you trout fish at all, but there are Class A trout streams in that area. Raystown is a good hike from State, but worth it and you can catch bigger bass there.

Charging Batteries In Parallel
Using your example, you can use the reserve capacity as a approximate for how long your battery will last. 200 min reserve capacity is the minutes the battery will last at 25 amp load. So at 25 amp load, you battery will last 3.3 hours (200 hour/60 minutes per hour). My motor at full speed at 50 amps would last about half that.

Charging Batteries In Parallel
Did some research and I think an average battery is about 100 amp hours. I have a a Minn Kota 55 lb thrust motor and it draws approximately 50 amps at full and constant speed. At full speed, the battery will last approximately 2 hours simply by dividing 100 by 50. I can't find the amp hours on my battery though. I guess hybrid batteries don't alway list the amp hours.

Charging Batteries In Parallel
I don't think 115 amp rate for 20 hours is possible on one battery. That's another subject though. I saw a Bill dance show where he gave a generic calculation for how long the trolling motor battery will last. It wasn't exact but was a decent guestimation. I forget what it was.

Charging Batteries In Parallel
Ok, to run in parallel, does it matter if they are the same capacity.
-
Charging Batteries In Parallel
Well how do you tell the capacity of the battery then? I guess my question is does it matter if the trolling batteries are the same capacity?

Charging Batteries In Parallel
When you do this, do the CCA ratings need to be the same? I figured they don't.

Guntersville Lake
Considering going to Wheeler now. Or maybe I'll be able to find a cove or creek with not too much traffic. It looks like it's going to be boats flying up and down the lake with weigh ins all day. And hopefully it dies down after 2 pm each day, but I could see people staying out all day. Thanks a bunch for the heads up.

Guntersville Lake
Finally checked back on this post. Is this for real? Is this really March 23/24th? I'm going to look this up, but I guess the good thing is we'll be there from 23-27th which should give us some less crowded times during the week. You said you haven't been over crowded during this, but where is it based out of? The state park? I could always stay south if that's the case, but I guess with 700 boats it won't matter where it's based out of.

What Do You Do For A Living?
It's great seeing all the different backgrounds in here. Personally, I'm a CPA for a government agency and I own my own tax preparation business for some extra seasonal income. Busy season is around spawning time though

Gas Gauge/gas Tank
Alright thanks guys... it sounds like this may be the case for me as well, but I'll fill it up before the next time I go out to see how much it takes and I'll be able to verify. I've never had it this low before so I never questioned my gauge.

Gas Gauge/gas Tank
Thanks.. my buddy said the same thing with his. It just hit 'E', so I guess I'll just go fill it up next time and see how many gallons it takes. That should tell me if my gauge is screwy. Still curious about what the bottom of the tanks are made of.
