Braid And Real Magic

Featured Replies

This question may have been asked and answered. If so I'm sorry for asking it again. I'm leaving for a two week trip to Ky.Lake on Thurs. I have 4 stadics and extra spools loaded with 8 lb. diameter power-pro. I use real magic on all mono but does anyone use it on braid? Thanks for you answers.

Yes you can use it on braid. But IMO Real magic is junk,I use the KVD line & Lure cond.! Real Magic is a oil based product and i don't want that on my reels or line but, that is just me.Just a heads up. And I spray the KVD line cond. on braid also.

Do a forum search on KVD line and lure and also Reel magic.  Most of the peeps on here are against RM and for KVD. I have used RM and I am presently switching to  KVD.

There really is no reason to use KVD L&L or the snake oil known as RM on braid.  The only thing I really noticed when I treated my braid with KVD L&L was the color seemed to take a little longer to fade away, otherwise no real benefit from my experience.

Save it for your flouro or mono, it or the KVD is not needed for braid.

I don't use anything on braid, don't use anything but hot water on mono, don't see the need for those products, tried them and never saw much of a benefit.

I just run that braid till it starts getting pale then I re spool. I have tried KVD on it and noticed no real difference. Maybe kept color a tad longer.

Not needed on braid.

Never saw a need for anything on my braid or mono.  I usually replace my mono after a season or two of fishing.  Braid just seems to get better with age.

The only thing that I think the line conditioner helps with on braid is even more casting distance than you're already getting with braid, and less guide noise (maybe worth it just for that). That's for uncoated braids (powerpro). I don't think it does anything at all for the coated braids (supercast, 832, etc). I just use generic silicone spray from the hardware store for both uncoated braid and fluoro, its MUCH cheaper than KVD.
