Steez Work In Progress (Finished)

Featured Replies

I bought this reel last week and had a tremendous amount of boat rash. I figured since i have painted one reel and have done countless crankbaits why not try a steez lol. Anyhow i would say the boat rash consisted of about 30% paint loss on the sideplates and front plate. Time for razzle dazzle. I disassembled the reel sanded down all three plates and put a coat of primer on them. Then i mixed a special formula of pearl paint and candy paint to get the base color and used a lime green for the steez emblems. (I made a stencil for the two different sizes. NOT EASY!) Anyhow have reassembled the right side plate and that is as far as i have gotten will update with more pictures tomorrow hopefully!

Man, that's sweet! Nice work.

I wish I had just an inkling of the talent that some of you guys have so that I could customize some of my gear to make it truly one of a kind!!!!

Some of them may be naturals (natural talent) at it, but im pretty sure most of them had to practice practice practice to get those skills.

pretty cool!

I cant even write my name legably, and I have been practicing that for over thirty years lol

All I have to say is WOW. May I ask what you used for the stencils? Did you just cut them from tape ? I do alot of dyeing work to lacrosse heads with RIT dye and all the layering and hand work with an exacto knife and electrical tape is just time consuming but its a labor of love, not to monetion all the layering to get the colors down. I've been pondering painting my Fuego, but i've never done any air brush work.

Thanks for all the compliments I am really having a good time doing this and being really patient i want to put it all together right now but I am giving the proper amount of time for cure purposes. Don't want to put something together you cant take apart lol. Anyhow Bassclary i used a stencil sheet i bought from hobby lobby a while ago i dont remember the thickness or anything just know it took about an hour and a half to cut them out with an xacto knife.

Well the paint is all done. Was getting my handle anodized by my father in law and he accidentally melted it in his machine at work so I now need to buy a custom handle (darn snap fingers lol).

You put it together backwards... The handle is on the wrong side....

Very nice job on your part, though someone dropped the ball. The good thing is there are lots of options out there. The hawgtech brand handle and knobs would be a good choice at a reasonable price. Also could try the pixy or zillion handle kit. Both can be had for around $100.

What ever option you select would look great on your work of art!
