Fished The Local Lake Today.

Featured Replies

I spent a good 6 hrs fishing for largemouths but got 3 pickerel and lost 2 others. The biggest is my best 17 3/4 inches. I thought it was a monster but surprised itonly weighed 1lb and 5 ozs. I know its not a trophy but I still think its pretty decent.

Nice pickerel!!! They seem to be super active this time of year as I know I am catching 2 to 1 pickerel to bass here lately.

Nice pick!  I've been catching them a lot as well.  Hard fighting fish.  Especially if you hook into a big one.

Thanks guys. Yea it seems the bass have all disappeared and were replaced by pickerel. I was doing pretty well with bass for most of march and was expecting things to really heat up in April. Not the case, fortunately the pickerel have been keeping me company.

Had myself a pickerel day today.  My wife and I went out for bass and instead got 1 crappie and a handful of pickerel.  I don't mind catching them but I'd at least like a bass or 2 thrown in there with em.  The wife had the best one.

Nice pick.  I know a lot of folks think that they are trash fish, but not me.  While I'm out there for bass, if I'd rather get a few picks or pike than nothing at all.  And, they strike pretty aggressively and fight very well.  Other than the occasional bite off, what's not to like.

My first "sport fish", if you will, was a little grass pike on a creme worm.  In my youthful inexperience, the thing looked like a snake with fins and sharp teeth.  I was afraid to touch it.  Even though I mostly target bass now, that fish is probably what got me hooked.

Nice fish by all accounts!

Thats a nice pickerel tuck. The ones I normally get are a lot smaller, but I am told there are trophies in that lake that I wouldn't mind catching. I also saw and heard a big disturbance farther out in the flat. Im positive it's a trophy bass, so I gonna have to get me some waders soon.
