I do my best to align the tail with the base of the rod and then photo the fish in a hurry to get em in the water. Some photos don't look like the tail is at the base, but it is.

Also, the ones on 5/15 were barbless hooks. I gut-hooked a 14" on 5/14 and it didn't make it...

@sn13, had that same set up, spheros on a redbone for snook for quite a while.  Not really bass fishing too much now, but did catch a nice one the other day, I don't measure them but about 6 lb or so.  I'm occupied with snook now, had several over slots this week.

Went back to the pond from yesterday, that produced. Got 3 but they were all around 15" or under.

If I work tomorrow I have the perfect spot to stop on the way in....

Today's Catch:

 

4 Bass at: 13.5", 14.5", 17", and 20"  

 

Bonus catch: Snakehead just barely shy of 2ft

BTW, is anyone keeping score officially, or do we do our own round up at the end (when does this end again?)

Been keeping my own score, but I think Alex had 4 fish and Fstr had 3 or 4 dunno the totals of theirs though....I think it is the 6th. So You have time to cull LOL I have a 15" I haven't posted because I am going Monday to get 2 more over 20"

thanks! it was funny the way is started off, i got 2 13-14" bass first that I didn't take pics of, thinking i'm never gonna win this thing with small fry like this, then i got a 3rd small one, and i'm like snap! better start taking pics! then the last 2 I hooked were 17 and 20" so yea... and the darn snakehead was bleeding so much and thrusting I got it's BLOOD IN MY EYES!!!!!!! kinda freaking out a bit, don't want to get a eye eating parasite or some nonsense like that...

 

anyways, fishing was good, and weird. i went for 2 hours to my honey hole canal near my house, first 30 minutes nothing. then all the fish but the last one in 30 minutes. then an hour of nothing again, and on the way back i'm like, ahhh one last cast, and i land a 17" on :-) always good to do that one last cast :-)

It is like that a lot in the morning you will get there a little before dawn and there is a peak time when the light is just right they are on the hunt for 15 or 20 minutes then it is too bright they go and rest for another day.

makes sense. i hit the water at 6pm, and got off at 8pm. the best bite was between 6:30pm-7pm. then the last fish i landed at 8pm as the sun was setting... all on a hollow body Booyah Pod Crusher Jr. frog, my new favorite bait :-) top water action is AWESOME!!!

With me it depends my best 3 go for 63" and if I throw in that 15" I haven't posted yet I am at 4 fish for 78"

 

Which I might post all things considering, I swung and missed this morning. They were there, didn't bring anything with me they liked, was trying different baits instead of senkos and rattlesnakes, they shunned the pop-r this morning too.

 

This is a lot closer than I thought! Still going til the 6th right?

I haven't been keeping track of anything and I have mostly been catching small fish anyway so the lengths won't matter. I need to find some new spots and finally make my way out to Ponte Vedra with my fishing gear. I was there yesterday with my girl and son at Meckler Beach. I stopped by my spot, didn't have fishing gear tho, and I saw 5 huge females swimming around in the shallow areas and I saw the resident gator pop his head out the water to see what I was doing then he went back under

It looks like it is a 2 man bragging rights race between Alex and MCS. Keep it up guys and congrats on all your catches... I hope next time I can keep up!

just to clarify everyone we are not going for the best 5 fish of the month. We are going for the length of your best two fish of the week added up at the end of the month. So there should be a total of 8 lengths added up on june 6th.

I agree. because last week I only measured 1 fish. LOL the rest were all under 20"

I miss understood too. I had more 15-18" ones I could have put, but figured I could do better within a month. Im fine with either way, but prefer top 5 as well. Maybe next month?  Missed one fish the first week then.  Got these 2 biggest  today, but hopefully can top em by the end of the week. 18&19"

Cool. Think best 5 keeps the competition tight and works out better for all of us that might vary week to week on fishing time.

 

Man finally got out today it was ok, 3 fish, none over 15 again....Tommorrow is another day, planning on hitting the water. Hopefully the big bite is on.
