Chatter Bait Help?

Featured Replies

So I went out last week and threw a Z man chatter bait near a spillway, caught two nice 2-2 1/2 pounders on it. but I wanted to know the best places, best retrieves and colors/sizes? the place i fish is stained.

It will work anywhere you would throw a spinnerbait or swim jig.  I like to run them down edge of laydowns. I think chartreuse white or black blue would work best in stained water and I typically use a steady retrieve with varying speeds.  I have heard some people say that they hop them and crawl them back like a jig too. If you caught 2 nice fish, I would just continue as you were

I generally throw them in places I would a swim jig outside the weed edges or laydowns if the swim jig isn't producing or the water is murky.

thanks guys, I just wanted to know if I could do something better to produce more fish.

At this time of year I like to swim them through spatterdock/pads. In another month or so the hydrilla and milfoil will grow in making this presentation nearly impossible.
