Effect Of High Water At Pickwick Tn

Featured Replies

I'm headed to Pickwick Wed. and Thurs.  Any idea how the high water and high rate of discharge will effect the bass above the dam?

Great fishing!  We just got back from the week long Roadtrip and I think the average was about 30-40 fish per person per day!

If you fish ledges that's where they found the biggest fish.

Most of the guys were catching them shallow, <12'. The biggest

bass I have ever seen at Pickwick struck a white spinnerbait (double

willow blade) in the weeds at the back of a cove!

Just go fishing!  The Tennessee river is on fire.

Thanks for the responses. I only fished Wed. Guess I should have turned left out of Yellow Creek instead of right! The bite was tough for me. No wind, seemed to have killed the spinnerbait/chatterbait bite. I did catch some fish including a couple of decent sized ones, but nothing like 30 or 40 a day! Nearly every bite was on a different type bait, squarebill, chatterbait, worm, etc.! No pattern.

By the way, Roadwarrior, what was the weight on the big bass?

I think it was 4 3/4 boated by Mike Siebert, but I will check. Glenn's monster broke off. Julie Siebert landed the biggest smallmouth, 3.3 lbs on a Rage Tail

Menace.

I caught a 3.97 smallie the day before the official RT started.

The tourney I fished in this past Monday out of Mill Creek featured a six pound smallmouth and a seven pound largemouth. That was the lunker. We only managed 4 keeper, but at least 40 bass that day (that included prefish). Several a half inch or quarter inch to short. Our four went 10.52. I also fished Tuesday and yesterday. We caught several more bass but nothing big. Junk fished yesterday, my 89 year old grandfather went with us. He had a great time and caught a bunch of fish.
