Everstart Batteries

Featured Replies

im in need of three new deep cycle batteries. i was at walmart and they carry two group 29 deep cycle batteries. the maxx 29 and a non maxx 29 deep cycle. the maxx has a 18 month warranty and the non maxx has a 12 month warranty. what differences can i expect out of these two batteries?  thanks.

You can expect poor at best performance from any Wal-Mart battery.  Everstart batteries are made to a price point and are not top of the line.  The best quality lead acid battery I have found are the Interstates.

I have had great luck with the Walmart Group 29's.  I have three currently with the oldest being 4 y/o and the others 3 y/o.  All work just like they did when new.  2 are in boats for the trolling motors and the other is on my camper for the 12 volt side.  Never had an Interstate last more than a year and a half even in my cars.  Never heard anyone with anything to say bad about these batteries before.  Mine are the non-maxx variety.  These batteries run my MK40 and MK45 motors all day and are still strong after a full days use.  Usually recharge in about 2-3 hours depending on how far I drain them.

I have been using 2 walmart batteries (group 29) on my 20' electric only pontoon for about 3 years w/o a problem. 24v 70lb minnkota

I have three WalMart batteries in my boat.  Three years old and no problems with them at all.  I would buy them again.

ive got 2 on my boat, non max series. 29 for the TM and a 27 for the motor.

X2

I have interstates that are going on 3+ years, but one did need to be replaced at 2 years. I bought Walmart 29 series more than a year ago. It tests fine. I'm going to buy all new Walmart batteries because if one needs replacing under warranty there is always a Walmart nearby.

I got 7 years out of my 1st set of Walmart Maxx 29 batteries, they finally went bad last year, and I was considering the Optima batteries, until I seen the cost!!! So I bought 3 more from Walmart.

I also have worked at battery factories, and from what I seen, all brands are made identical, they just slap different stickers on them at the end of the line.

For the first time in my life I have three Wal-Mart batteries on the boat.

They were purchased in April of 2012 and so far they have performed outstanding. In my last tournament on Lake Anna north of Richmond, Virginia we had heavy winds that blew me around all day. I fought the wind with the trolling motors (24-volt, 72 pound thrust Motor Guide) all day starting at 6AM and still had good trolling motor power at 4PM.

My fishing friend suggested getting them as Wal-Mart has the 100% replacement guarantee.

Other fishing friends swear by the Interstates.

One guy is thinking of investing a fortune in the titanium batteries.

Of course I will keep an eye on the batteries and their performance and if they fail I will go back to the Interstates.

This boils down to personal preference.

Interstate and walmart batteries are both made by Johnson controls. There are only a few companies that make batteries for all other brands.

Maxx group 29 over a year on it. Same with the starting battery. Just purchased a group 29 non maxx for a 2nd trolling motor battery.
