Pollin And Braid

Featured Replies

It's spring and there is pollin everywhere. Its clumping like wet cotton all over my braid and hampering casting distance as it gets jammed through the rod guides. I usually try and pick it off that works with varying success or I cut the line and reel it off through my thumb. Does anyone have a better method to deal with this issue?

Sounds like cottonwood or willow seeds -white cottony stuff floating on the water?

Yeah, it is a pain. I don't know what to do except avoid it. Pray for a good breeze, or pick a different water til it blows over.

I have a local lake near me that gets really bad. I don't know what to do either, I just stopped fishing braid there because it was such a big issue.

Cottonwood is awful with braid. I almost tend to not fish if the water is really badly covered. Mother nature's way of teling us to take a break.

I usually just poke it out with a tooth pick and run the line through my finger when im reeling in.

It sure does sound like cottonwood.  I would be fishing different water if it was that annoying.
