Got this new reel that came with no owner's manual but has 4 little washers in a pack that say "See owner's manual"....I don't know why a $59 Sedona comes in a box with paper work but a $99 Symetre is in plastic with nothing.  Anyway, I looked online at the owners manual and still can't see what these washers are for.  Any idea where to put them and if they're needed?

My understanding was they are spacers for under the spool.

They are shims, if the line is not spooling up evenly.

Yup what they said......I have never found a need for them on any of my shimano spinning reels so they get put in the parts bin with everything else.

That's exactly it, got aome with my Sahara too, they're a helpful little tool.

To use the spacers:

If line is stacking unevenly on the spool spacers are added or removed to make adjustment. If the line bunches at the top of the spool add a spacer. If it bunches on the back of the spool remove one.

Knots in the line can also affect the way the line lays.
