Split-Shotting Soft Plastics

Featured Replies

Slaughtered the bass today on the split shot rig with a small tube when nothing else was working. It seems to be that magic in-between rig for suspended bass- it is more weedless than a tube with an insert head and you can fish it faster than a drop-shot. Anyone else using this rig? How do you fish it?

I haven't done it with a tube, but it's a great presentation with a CrawPapi or beaver style bait when you want to stay on top of the weeds or give your plastic a slow, enticing fall.  Another set up is with a french fry worm for bedding fish.  A lot of guys fish it like a mini C-rig, but I prefer a drop shot when I want to stay close to the bottom.

I dnt really use a split shot rig too often. I like to go weightless a lot though.

I have used it before with a floating plastic worm, but not with a tube.  I am going to have to give that a try.

I used the split shot rig for the first time yesterday, and I did ok. 4 bass in an hour. Its just like fishing a light c-rig.

I use it a lot with robot worms. Great numbers bait to catch a limit quick. I like the tube idea though. Might have to try it. What size hook do you use with the tube?

I like to split shot Zoom trick worms with a small shot with good results. A fluke works good too. Just curious, what kind of tube is that? It looks like a solid body type.
