Rod Locker Protection?

Featured Replies

I fish out of a z6 nitro, lots of space in my lockers but they're just completely open. I put rod gloves on all my rods but I have no protection from my reels bouncing around into each other, anyone have a rack or an idea to protect them?

I use neoprene reel covers.

Keeps all protected

I got a 10' roll of tool box lining material at Home Depot a few years ago.  It is fairly thin stuff, but it does provide some cushioning and scratch protection.  You can go lo-tech and cut it into appropriate size sheets and use rubber bands or some other type of elastic fastener to cushion it around your reels.  Or you can get slicker, bust out the hot glue gun and some velcro and create some custom fitted reel covers.

Expect a few mistakes until you get your pattern down.  If you could ever find nylon faced 1/8 inch neoprene sheets, those would be ideal.  Those are hard to find, and cost-prohibitive in my world.

I made a few, but with my current rod storage system they are unnecessary.

TW has their own brand of reel covers that sell for $4.99. Available in left or right hand. Less expensive compared to say the Daiwa or Shimano brand covers and many think highly of them. I use them on all reels I want to protect. Easy to take on / off a reel.

H20 express has the neoprene 3 bucks at academy.. Exactly the same as the daiwa and shimano and TW... And the reel grips are also cheaper at academy than many other places but the colors are limited.
