Texas rigged baits. You fish them on baitcaster or spinning rod

Featured Replies

I throw most plastics, finesse jigs, and jerkbaits on spinning gear. The Avid AVS68MXF does a pretty good job of handling them in all but the heaviest cover. I typically spool with 8# Sufix Elite and keep a spare spool loaded with 30# PP, just in case.  ;)

I keep the baitcasters for heavier jigs, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and lipless and shallow cranks.

1/4oz and under is usually on a spinning rig.

Both. Depends on the weight and or size of the lure being used.

It has to be really light for me to use my spinning gear...  I much rather prefer a baitcaster...

X2. I have way more confidence in a baitcaster.

I use a Shimano bait casting reel for everything. ;)

Everything I fish is on a bait caster. the lighter stuff works fine if you pick the right rod and reel set up to fish it with.

I have one rig that is set up with either 6 or 8 lb. test. It is a bait caster with a saltwater speckled trout rod. I never break off and you can throw the lighter stuff a long way. Just what I prefer.
