I've been out of fishing for a few years due to family health issues. I use to use Tru-Turn hooks as my main worm hook. Are they still a popular hook or is there something better? Can you use them effectively with a Super Fluke? Thanks

We've still got some tru-turn in the boat. We use the gamakatsu's mostly these days though. 

Use to use them years ago. Never found the points on Tru-Turns to be very sharp. I always had to sharpen them, right out of the pack before using. I'd suggest you try some Gamakasu off-set worm hooks instead.

I remember when these were the new "it" hook. I bought a few packs. IIRC they were blunt as a butter knife and the gauge on them was super thick--much more so than my standard Gamakatsu.

The Tru-Turn has settled into the finesse category or smaller worm hooks.

Today hook designs have proliferated to application specific hooks. If you are fishing with a Super Fluke, this lure has a lot of body width that can fill the hook gap, so most anglers use what is known as EWG or extra wide gap that are off set designs. The same style hooks are used with smaller hollow body swimbaits.

Popular makes are; Gamakatsu 584, Owner 5140, Tokar TK110, Mustad 91768kH, 4/0 for the Super Fluke.

I like true turn hooks and still use them for texas rigged worms. I sharpen them first though because they are dull right out of the package. I use extra wide gap for flukes and tubes.

If you still have them no reason not to use them.  I pretty much stay with Eagle Claw 4/0 for my flukes and 4/0 Ewg for frogs and 3x or 4x trebles, I use their circle hooks as well.  I mainly use Mustad trailer hooks as that's what my local tackle shop carries.  

Thanks for the info guys. I'll hang on to what I have for my worm fishing. Just went out and got some stuff for drop shot rig. Flukes are next on the list.
