How long should I wait to set the hook after a bite?

Are you sure you are missing fish and not bumping into cover/structure?

That is a relatively small bait and in my experience, they engulf it.  There is no missing the fish...

Agreed...You will not miss a "bite", but you might be getting

bumped. The bump is light, the bite is not. Set the hook on

the bite, not the bump.

The issue I had, which Matt personally addressed, was losing

fish during the fight. You don't "play" a bass, you reel it in! It

is either pulling drag or moving your way.
