Which Reel For Braid

Featured Replies

Ok so i want to use braid this year and i need a new reel anyways so i figure this would be the right time to try braid. The only problem is i don't know what would be a good reel to use. Any suggestions under $100 would be great. Thanks guys.

You can use braid on just about any reel. Are you using a spinning reel or baitcasting?

Suggestions: Shimano Symetre if spinning. 15lb 832 or PP

Shimano Citica if baitcasting  30-40lb 832 or PP

BPS Pro Qualifier runner up choice

lews speed spool. there $99, you can find brand new ones on ebay for a lot cheeper though, but almost everyone on here has positive words for them, they cast far, are butter smooth, easy to cast, just a good all around reel for a decent price. not much can beat it in its price range IMO

Any reel with a handle will work....

Tape the spool and they are all braid ready.

as said any decent reel made today will handle braid when set up properly!!! 15 or 20# mono backing to braid is my choice on bass gear! Just use lighter or heavier mono on other gear depending on the size!

Thank you guys for the replies. I'm sorry i didn't state before but this is a baitcaster i'm asking about. I'm glad to see both Lews speed spool and the Citia both get mention. I have them both and love those both. Thank you all for the replies.

Bps pro qualifier, H20 mettle, etc. Stick with centrifugal breaking
