Accomplished 2013 Goals?

Recommended Posts

My goal for this year was to learn how to jig fish and catch at least one fish on a jig.  Several weeks ago I accomplished that goal by catching multiple fish on a swim jig, and then followed that up the following week with catching my personal best (for a largemouth) swimming a Seibert Outdoors football head.  I am definitely hooked on swim jigs, now my goal is to learn how to fish a jig slow.  But at least I accomplished my goal for this year and have a few months to continue building on that accomplishment.  Anyone else reach their goals already this year?

1. Learned to use the dropshot effectively.

2. Break my PB - 5 lb LMB New PB set Jun 21st, 2013, 4.4 lb Smallmouth Set Jun 23rd, 2013.

Still outstanding is to learn to use a crankbait effectively.

I recently love the jig now, been catching some big bass on recently. One vein about 7 pounds. Caught some on a crankbait. Started fishing deeper and catching fish. The jig was the main goal though, it's one of my favorites!

My two that I have accomplished so far were to catch fish by pitching jigs and consistently hook and land fish on frogs. I have caught 30+ bass in the past 2 months pitching jigs and my ability to wait on setting the hook with a frog has definitely improved. My next goal is to stick a 6+ pounder on a swimbait.

My goal, like many others, is being paid to fish. I manage this through teaching a fishing program at a Boy Scout summer camp which requires about 4 hours of teaching in the middle of the day, aside from that I can fish to my hearts delight on the clock. Life is good.

I accomplished catching a bass in thick weeds, did that an hour ago. I still gotta catch a bass on a jig and a spinnerbait and also get my PB LM or SM bass, which ever comes first.

After being sick for a few years just being out there more wetting my lines while trying to drown my lures will be ok with me. Soon I'll be out there again looking to break the state record. This would be the year to do it then I can relax and just fish.

let's see...I caught my first spinnerbait fish, my first buzzbait fish, my first plastic worm fish, my first lipless crank bait fish, and my first jig fish this year. I've previously only ever caught bass on floating crank baits or top water poppers, or live minnows.

I also purchased my first NICE baitcaster instead of the el cheapos, and have learned to cast it fairly well until I try to throw something thats less than 1/4 ounce.

Sounds like it's been a good year, and that you have a lot more 'firsts' to come. There's still a lot of fishing left to do this year.

I met my goal of catching a 5lb. smallie. It fought better than a 15lb. snakehead, hands down. I've since caught a few more in that weight class. Been really trying to polish up my swift river current techniques and reading the water. So far so good, but there is always more to learn.

I had two goals going into the 2013 season

1)  Learn the drop shot and catch fish on it during a tournament.

This weekend I successfully used the drop shot to catch 2 very finicky bass out of Oneida Lake in my 2 day tourney.  Beginning to feel very confident with the lure.  Still learning all that it has to offer.

2)  Catch a limit in most of my tournaments.

So this one is still ongoing but off to a very good start.  Out of 6 competitive rounds I have caught limits in 5 and cashing in twice as a result.

That is a beautiful fish!!!  Love those ones over 4.  They fight like you have a bull on the end of your line.

My personal goals of 2013 are,

Beat prostate cancer. If not I hope they have fishing there.

To lose 120lbs. I lost 60lbs already and I'm off some meds already.

To help and teach people fish with lures.

Buy up all the fishing equipment I can afford.

Go fishing 24/7 once I get the ok to fish again. I'm going to try to wear out my reels this year.

I'm going to fish more plastics too.

Get a row boat for the smaller places.

Look for a new motorcycle with room for a telescopic fishing rod. My last one had room under the seat for a rod, reel, lures.

Take kids fishing

To change things that I can and do not sweat about the stuff I can't change. Tell my family and friends I love them.

After surviving an episode of sudden cardiac arrest earlier this year and having a defibrillator implanted in my chest, my main goal is just to get out there and have fun fishing. So far, I'm doing pretty good!
