Moaner Hooks... Cheap, strong, and sharp!

Featured Replies

I just recently found out about Moaner Hooks, so I decided to order some.  Upon initial inspection these hooks appear to be the real deal, and feature a hitchhiker clip.  Strong, sharp, and easy on the wallet.  They fit rage tail baits perfectly.  This company also sells weighted swimbait hooks as will as shakey heads.  Their line of hooks are called Stroker Hooks, both weighted and unweighted.  The shakey jigs are called Stiffy jigs and have a hitchhiker clip instead of the normal peg or screwlock.  All in all I am very impressed with these hooks and would like to try the whole line, I would say they are comparable to Owners(w/o the cutting point) and Gamakatsu's.  I have only fished them once, so there will be more to come on the hooking and holding process when I fish again.  I have no doubts that these will produce for me.  So if any of you are looking for top of the line hooks without the top of the line price, check out Moaner Hooks.

stiffy, stroker, and moaner.  I wonder what was on their mind when they came up with those names :-?

Absolutely! They are all I buy now, and as I run out of my stock of Owners and Gammy, I'm replacing all with the Moaners. When I first got some, I put them through some serious torture, and they hold up just the same as the Owners. Definitely my new favorite hook, especially when you consider the cost (about 40%cheaper).

Are they braid-strong?

They are also Big-O approved!

EWG worm hooks??

Holy cheapness Batman!

Maybe my wife will quit complaining if I start buying these hooks! Nah, I'll still spend the same amount... BUT GET MORE HOOKS! Weighted hooks probably account for about 30% of my tackle buying.

Awesome hooks and they work great with braid, mono or fouro.  I also use them with my Rage Tail baits.

You can go to several different lure craft supply stores like Barlows Tackle to get competitive prices for those. For instance, the Stroker hook. You can purchase 50 Mustad 28* heavy wire, needle-point hooks in 6/0 for $16.84. Then you can purchase 25 Hitch Hiker at $3.59 x2. This brings a strong, sharp hook to $0.48 a hook.

I am not trying to knock Moaner or anything. Just pointing out that by shopping around and buying in bulk, there are cheaper alternatives with name brand hooks.

I use'em all the time too ;) Their weighted hooks are a really nice design and work excellent with RT's so I'm sure they will be great on all other Softies as well.

Been using their stand up jig on just about everything too...Good quality products

but haven't actually had the privilege of fishing with

"I don't weigh 'em unless I'm sure it's a new PB or a lake record." Re-read that... a LAKE RECORD.

That's when you know you catch a lot of good'uns.

I had a decent day of fishing, I broke my dink streak. I was using the new moaner hooks that I have previously reviewed, and stuck a fish on an ika with a 5/0 stroker hook. 6'6 MF Vendetta 10lb. Vicious Fluoro.  Felt the tap, tap, then BAM slam the hook home, easily penetrated the bass' jaw and held tight till I got it in.  So now I can attest to the quality and the sharpness and holding power of these hooks.  I highly recommend them.

p.s. the bass shook the ika off the hook

Unfortunately many lures and fishing products are named along those lines these days. Immature and rather disgusting.......
